Our goal is to increase our team with a Senior Structural Engineer within Offshore Wind which is capable to take the lead and carry out structural design of WTG foundations for the Offshore Wind industry from feasibility phase until detailed design.

You will join our Offshore Wind department
As our new Senior Structural Engineer / Primary Steel Lead Engineer you will be part of our Offshore Wind Department within Ramboll’s Energy Division. In Ramboll Offshore Wind we are currently more than 160 people. We are located in 5 offices in Copenhagen, Esbjerg, Aarhus, Hamburg and London where our focus is on design of offshore wind turbine foundation structures (mainly jacket and monopile foundations). Our projects typically contain the design related services for offshore foundations, including all necessary design calculations, documentation and drawings to enable the project getting certified and approved for construction.

Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Prepare high-quality steel design, finite element foundation modelling and documentation of primary structural components (e.g. monopiles or jacket structures) reflecting the state-of-art design works performed.
  • Leading a team of primary steel engineers and CAD technicians on project teams referring to the Project Manager.
  • Optimization of design through skilled examination of results and important design drivers.
  • Manage the schedule and budget for the primary steel team.
  • Perform Quality Assurance of computer models and project documentation.
  • Be involved in the interface with client and other stakeholders in the project.
  • Adopt newest Health & Safety and Environmental requirements to the design and participate in Design Risk assessment workshop with the client (usually at client’s office in e.g. UK, Belgium, Germany, France, USA, China, Taiwan or Japan).
  • Presentation of design methods and results in client meetings and meeting with the certifying agent during the certification process.
  • Contribution to Ramboll’s technical development board (TDB), which is our research intelligence centre in the field of primary steel design.


Your starting point for constant growth

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Engineering, structural or civil.
  • Min. 4-6 years of experience with structural engineering, where you have a proven track record of achieving certification of detailed design projects.
  • Experience in several of the following areas: Structural steel design including specifications for fabrication, jacket design, monopile design, dynamic structural behaviour, corrosion protection design of offshore steel structures, wave loads on offshore structures, wind loading on turbines.
  • Excellent English skills (oral and written).

During project work, you use your sharp analytical approach and structural experience to help the team create innovative solutions.
