As our new Senior Engineer Finite Element Design you will be part of our global Offshore Wind Engineering department. You will join a team of highly talented and engaged engineers at the forefront of innovative and complex design techniques in steel and composite materials. You will take on responsibility for your own design deliverables applying an analytical approach and structural understanding to create innovative solutions – with the aim of shaping and enhancing our service delivery. Within Ramboll, over 500 highly qualified experts are working on onshore and offshore wind projects globally, operating primarily from our 15 key offices across the Nordics, Germany, UK, Poland, Spain, Japan and the US. Your key tasks and responsibilities As part of a multidisciplinary project team, you will take on diverse tasks and responsibilities in international projects of varied complexity and scale, such as: Perform detailed FE calculations of the ultimate and fatigue capacity of both larger and smaller structural components, represented in large steel structures such as monopile or jacket foundations for offshore wind turbines Prepare and optimise design models with high-quality meshing and well-conceived boundary conditions Coordinate design works with the Project / Design Manager and other discipline Lead Engineers Translate simulation results into clear conclusions and present these in high-quality documentation reflecting the state-of-art design works, leading to successful third-party approval / certification of the designed structures Depending on your project role, you may lead a team of FE engineers to deliver high-quality steelwork design, optimised for the full life cycle of the structure Present design methods and results at client and certifying agent meetings during both the design and certification process Perform quality assurance of design and simulation models, as well as project documentation Mentor Junior Engineers in the applied methods and processes to design both material-optimized and fabrication-friendly structures Contribute to Ramboll’s technical development in the field of finite element design Your qualifications Master’s degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering, preferably with focus on design of offshore steel structures or similar areas of study Doctorate studies in a relevant field or industry are considered advantageous Track record applying understanding of structural engineering principles, design standard requirements and the fabrication / construction process to produce efficient designs Experience with offshore wind turbine foundation design including structural statics / dynamics is considered advantageous Expert knowledge of advanced Finite Element (FE) modelling and static / dynamic simulations, ideally within ANSYS or Altair Hyperworks Strong drive to excel in the Finite Element discipline, reflected in engagement in collaboration with others, as well as design works and deliverables Effectively plan and prioritize multiple engineering tasks, while making independent decisions that promote / advance company goals and objectives Motivated to learn and grow in an international and skilled team of structural engineers, as well as to seize any opportunity to exceed expectations High integrity and team spirit, proactively engaging with others and offering support when required Excellent communication skills and proactive, analytical approach to assignments Fluent in both written and spoken English when interfacing with various disciplines and stakeholders, both in person and virtually Welcome to our Energy division Ramboll is at the forefront of addressing the green transition and offers a holistic approach to energy that supports the sector on the journey towards more sustainable solutions.
