As our new Senior Engineer Primary Steel Design, you will be part of our global Offshore Wind Engineering department. You will join a team of highly talented and engaged engineers at the forefront of innovative and complex steel design techniques for Monopile and Jacket structures. Since 2007 we have been involved in floating offshore wind and today have a dedicated team of experts supporting clients globally.Within Ramboll, over 500 highly qualified experts are working on onshore and offshore wind projects globally, operating primarily from our 15 key offices across the Nordics, Germany, UK, Poland, Spain, Japan and the US.Your key tasks and responsibilitiesAs part of a multidisciplinary project team, you will work on international projects of varied complexity and scale, taking on diverse tasks and responsibilities such as:With a focus on large steel foundation structures for offshore wind turbines, deliver primary steel design work packages for Concept Design, Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Detailed Designs, in close collaboration with an in-house team of geotechnical, metocean, secondary steel, FE and load specialistsManage works by primary steel engineers to deliver high-quality design and documentation of primary structural components (e.g., monopiles or jacket structures), reflecting both ease of fabrication and the latest state-of-the-art design methodologies, while ensuring successful third-party certification and efficient follow-up during the fabrication and installation phasesCoordinate design works with the Project / Design Manager and other discipline Lead EngineersBe in front of the entire load-structural workflow, ranging from load case table definition to integrated wind / wave load simulations using our in-house WTG load simulation tools, identification of design loads and preparation of high-class optimized foundation designs Present design methods and results at client- and certifying agent meetings during both the design and certification processPerform quality assurance reviews of design and simulation models, as well as project documentationMentor junior engineers in the applied methods and processes to design both material-optimised and fabrication-friendly structuresUse your programming capabilities to contribute to develop state-of-the-art design tools, and continuously improve and optimise our designsContribute to Ramboll’s technical development in the field of primary steel designYour qualificationsMaster’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Wind Engineering, preferably with focus on design of offshore steel structures or similar areas of studyDoctorate studies in a relevant field or industry are considered advantageousTrack record of applying a strong understanding of structural engineering principles, design standard requirements and the fabrication / construction process to produce efficient designsPreferably experience within offshore wind, e.g., turbine foundation design, structural statics / dynamics, hydrodynamics, wind loading including aeroelastic load simulations and offshore geotechnical designStrong drive to excel in the Primary Structures discipline, reflected in design works and deliverables as well as engagement and collaboration with othersVery good knowledge and understanding of structural modelsAbility and interest in scripting and programming, preferably in PythonExperienced in coordinating designs with other disciplines and other stakeholders both in person and remotelyEffectively plan and prioritize multiple engineering tasks, while making independent decisions that promote / advance company goals and objectivesMotivated to learn and grow in an international and multidisciplinary team of skilled engineers, as well as to seize any opportunity to exceed expectationsHigh integrity and team spirit, proactively engaging with others and offering support when requiredExcellent communication skills and proactive, analytical approach to assignmentsFluent in both written and spoken English when interfacing with various disciplines and stakeholders, both in person and virtuallyWelcome to our Energy divisionRamboll is at the forefront of addressing the green transition and offers a holistic approach to energy that supports the sector on the journey towards more sustainable solutions.
