You will join the Offshore Structures department in Ramboll Energy

As our new Senior Structural Lead Engineer, you will join a highly skilled design team of more than 70 people working full-time with both greenfield and brownfield tasks within the global Offshore Energy sector. We cover all aspects of a project, which within greenfield design includes feasibilities and concept studies, front end engineering design, detailed design and follow-up engineering. The projects you will be working on are executed from the office and will often involve multiple specialists in different fields. We work for global customers and provide cutting-edge solutions to our clients.

In the team we believe in empowerment and being proactive and communicative. We are a global team and run projects worldwide, therefore you must expect some travel activity from time to time; the number of days will typically vary from 5-25 days per year.

Your key tasks and responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead several project teams of structural engineers and designers
  • Develop and deliver complete detail design packages of substructures for offshore wind substations
  • Prepare and execute projects either independently or in close collaboration with the project manager or the project owner
  • Act as a technical mentor for the project teams and help them to grow their knowledge within the design of offshore substructure
  • Provide expert guidance regarding the design of offshore substructures, herunder structural layout, soil anchoring method, construction, installation and decommissioning
  • Occasionally assist in preparing design documents, calculations and/or analyses using various structural analysis programs
  • Assist in tender management and as part of this make the quotations, herunder do time and cost estimates, prepare method statement, handle tax and legal matters together with our specialists, participate in clarification sessions, etc.

From the moment you join Ramboll, we will support your personal and professional development so that you grow with the company. For this role, it is a must that you fulfil the following qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Structural and Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in leading larger project teams
  • Minimum 8-10 years of design experience within the design of offshore substructures (primarily jackets and monopiles), preferable from the offshore wind industry
  • Full understanding of what it takes to design, analyse, and document an offshore substructure according to the prevailing codes in the offshore industry, primarily within wind
  • Experience with finite element analysis of structural parts in program ANSYS and LS-DYNA
  • Substantial experience with one or more of the structural analysis programmes, preferable ROSAP or SACS
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Danish language skills are beneficial

To succeed in this position you must be technically strong and able to lead and motivate your project team across multiple geographical borders. Your design solutions demonstrate your understanding of how every detail fit into the bigger picture, and you take ownership of the project design engineering. You are a confident and transparent communicator and when challenges and complex tasks arise, you use your analytical skills to seek solutions. You have an excellent ability to read and understand our clients’ requirements and deliver consultancy and engineering at the required level for each project phase from early feasibility studies to detail design. You are sociable and collaborative and enjoy building and maintaining close working relationships both internally and externally.
