As our new Engineer Primary Steel Design, you will be part of our global Offshore Wind Engineering department. You will join a team of highly talented and engaged engineers at the forefront of innovative and complex steel design techniques for Monopile and Jacket structures. You will take on responsibility for your own design deliverables applying an analytical approach and structural understanding to create innovative solutions – with the aim of shaping and enhancing our service delivery. Within Ramboll, over 500 highly qualified experts are working on onshore and offshore wind projects globally, operating primarily from our 15 key offices across the Nordics, Germany, UK, Poland, Spain, Japan and the US. Your key tasks and responsibilities As part of a multidisciplinary project team, you will work on international projects of varied complexity and scale taking on diverse tasks and responsibilities such as: Design and optimize large steel structures, primarily monopile and jacket foundations for offshore wind turbines; specific design responsibilities depend on qualifications and personal preferences / interests Support Lead Engineers to present design methods and results at client and certifying agent meetings, during both the design and certification process Ensure designs are optimised while fulfilling project requirements and engineering standards, accounting for the full life cycle of the structure from fabrication through operation to decommissioning Perform quality assurance reviews of design and simulation models, as well as project documentation Contribute to Ramboll’s technical development in the field of primary or secondary steel design Responsibilities may involve delivery of primary steel design work packages for all project phases of foundation design in collaboration with other relevant engineering disciplines Additional focus may involve on design of complex secondary steel structures, such as internal and external platforms, boat landings and various details crucial for functionality of the complete structure Work closely together in project teams with in-house geotechnical, metocean, FE, and load specialists, referring to the Discipline Leads, Project or Design Manager Perform integrated wind and wave load simulations using our in-house WTG load simulation tool to prepare loads for optimisation of structural designs Use your programming capabilities to contribute to development of state-of-the-art design tools to continuously improve and optimise our design methods Your qualifications Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Wind Engineering, preferably with focus on design of offshore steel structures or similar areas of study Doctorate studies in a relevant field or industry are considered advantageous Solid understanding of statics / dynamics and civil engineering, with a key focus on structural steel design Understanding of hydrodynamic and / or geotechnical engineering would be valuable Ability and interest in scripting and programming, preferably in Python A drive to excel in the areas of responsibility, reflected in design works and deliverables as well as engagement and collaboration with others Able to plan and prioritize multiple engineering tasks, while making independent decisions that promote / advance company goals and objectives Motivated to learn and grow in an international and multidisciplinary team of skilled engineers, as well as to seize any opportunity to exceed expectations Open to mini rotations in other relevant engineering disciplines within foundation design High integrity and team spirit, proactively engaging with others and offering support when required Strong communication skills and a proactive, analytical approach to assignments Fluent in both written and spoken English when interfacing with various disciplines and stakeholders, both in person and virtually Welcome to our Energy division Ramboll is at the forefront of addressing the green transition and offers a holistic approach to energy that supports the sector on the journey towards more sustainable solutions.
