Power Solutions Plant & Hybrid Solutions Electrical Infrastructure

As Lead Engineer within the Grid and BoP integration area, you will be a part of a highly skilled team, with a focus on main hybrid electrical components such as PV, BES, and P2X solutions for Vestas Hybrid Power Plants. We work in a key area in securing the green energy transition and take great pride in shaping future solutions. We have team members with both senior expertise from transmission system operators, highly skilled academia- and long industry background. Our teams are working out of both Denmark and Porto. Responsibilities
You will be part of designing our up and coming (eBoP) integration team, hence you will have a key role in supporting our leaders and specialists in shaping the right team and not least the right directions within the domain of PV- and BES-Systems. As such you will be the technical go-to person on PV- and BES-Systems in our area. The quality of the hybrid deliveries out of the area will be of key importance for you and you will work closely with the team to do the right scoping of new activities and ensure that our technical roadmap brings us in front of our competitors. This will include:

  • Scoping and implementing R&D projects related to PV, BES activities
  • Developing modular design concept for hybrid power plants
  • Guide PV and BES technology outlook and inputs to our R&D roadmap
  • Ensure optimal design and quality of hybrid power plants including wind, solar, and storage
  • Interface with colleagues from our internal value chain and Vestas' sales organisation
  • Undertake generic updates of our hybrid TPS’
  • Take part in the qualification of hybrid vendor components

Qualifications

  • Educational background within M.Sc.EE or similar
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of professional experience from for example grid operators, power generators, utilities, grid consulting companies or eBoP components manufacturers etc.
  • Possess a solid understanding of hybrid power plants, their design and grid interconnection
  • Proven previous experience in planning and designing eBoP systems for renewable power plants
  • Have a general knowledge of wind power plants, PV-plants, BES-Systems, SVCs, STATCOMs, diesel/gas-gensets, synchronous compensators and other emerging main electrical components for hybrid renewable power plants.
  • Experience using the major power system simulation tools such as PowerFactory, PSS/E and PSCAD

Additional information
The primary work location is Aarhus, Denmark.
This position requires approximately 10 days of travel a year.
