What do we offer?
Would you like to design, optimize and verify the structural performance of world class pumps using advanced structural simulations?
Grundfos has a strong strategic focus on Simulation Driven Development and our vision is to develop all products with extensive usage of simulations.
You will become a part of the department Structural Design & Simulations, which is a part of the Mechanical Development function in Grundfos, and you will be responsible for driving the structural design of new products, offerings and platforms by extensive use of simulations and optimization.
We offer a challenging workplace with excellent professional and personal development opportunities in an inspiring, international work environment with the world’s leading pump manufacturer and industry leading experts. We value initiative, responsibility and the right balance between creativity and quality in all solutions. You refer to the Manager of Structural Design & Simulations, Anders Bøge.
“You will join a young dedicated team in a highly professional environment with a strong technical commitment. Furthermore, you will gain a close cooperation with simulation engineers across Grundfos focusing on process, hydraulic, motor, hardware simulations etc. and together you will form the future for product development at Grundfos,” Anders explains.
What is the job about?
As our new Structural Simulation Specialist, you will be responsible for applying structural simulations in our product development projects and for ensuring that simulations are used to drive the design. You will be performing advanced structural simulations, non-linear analyses that include large deformations, plasticity and multiple contacts. You conduct modal and harmonic analyses of large assemblies and carry out fatigue and fracture simulations on polymer and metal components.
Moreover, you apply state of the art optimization techniques as topology and parameter optimization and perform optimization studies to develop high performing, robust and low-cost components. As you get your results, you translate them into understandable findings and communicate these to designers and project managers by e.g. creating high quality documentation. In addition to this you will also use your structural experience to provide solid structural recommendations to the Grundfos Engineering function dealing with product lifecycle management.
Finally, you will have an important role in securing the quality of our structural simulations by mentoring non-specialist colleagues in the use of simulations to ensure democratization across the global sites of the Mechanical Development function, as well as conducting reviews.
“This is a position where you apply simulations to develop market leading solutions, only made possible by the use of simulations,” Anders elaborates.
What do you need to apply?
You have an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and a deep understanding of structural mechanics, physics and materials. This is combined with some years of experience in R&D activities, working with structural simulations – static, dynamic, modal, fatigue, fracture, as well as parameter and topology optimization. Moreover, it is an advantage if you have knowledge of process simulations, multi-physics simulations (e.g. FSI) and programming (e.g. MATLAB, APDL). Experience with ANSYS, OptiSLang and CATIA (3D CAD) is also an advantage. You speak and write English fluently.
“On a personal level, you are a proactive team player with an international mind-set. You carry out simulations and find solutions independently, using your analytical and systematic skills. You dare to challenge the status quo and are persistent about the value and insight that structural simulations provide. And finally, your interpersonal skills allow you to translate your specialist knowledge into input and solutions for non-specialists and provide them with valuable insight and recommendations,” Anders finishes.
Additional information:
In case you have any questions or want to know more about the position, please contact Anders Bøge Jensen on +45 22 78 43 33 (from the 12th August and onwards).
