Brande

It takes the brightest minds to be a technology leader. It takes imagination to create green energy for the generations to come. At Siemens Gamesa we make real what matters, join our global team.

For our WLD (Wind, Loads & Dynamic) team within the LCP (Loads, Control & Performances) Unit in Service Technology Engineering department we are looking for new colleagues to work with us in wind-turbine loads calculation. Main mission of loads engineer is to prepare, analyze and evaluate the aeroelastic simulations in order to calculate loads in wind turbines. In addition, he/she will be responsible for researching and developing different solutions or upgrades for fleet support, including the definition and proposal of loads reduction strategies as well as contributing to the definition of operational and safety strategies.Loads engineers are in charge of solving problems related with wind turbine dynamics of the fleet and provide directions to come up with solutions. They are also involved in the verification and validation of loads in a real wind turbine giving support to the execution of validation tests and analyze the results from the load measurement tests. This position has a strong interaction with other engineering disciplines, mainly with control, aerodynamics and sites, but also with teams in the mechanical or electrical units. As a consequence, the profile counts with an overall understanding of main disciplines involved in wind turbine operation, i.e.: loads, aerodynamics, sites, mechanical, and others.Proper achievement of these functions involves good field data analysis, being able to process wind turbine data and analyze it for identification of possible loads strategies for the wind turbines.

About the role

  • Your role will include analyzing of the loads and dynamics of the wind turbines according to the design standards. Besides you will prepare the wind turbine models for aeroelastic calculation and do loads simulation by mean of the aeroelastic codes and pre and post process them and prepare loads reports for design and certification of the wind turbines at the fleet.
  • You will solve problems related with wind turbine dynamics of the fleet and provide directions to come up with solutions. You will do the test specification for the verification and validation of loads in the real wind turbine and give support to the execution of validation tests and analyze the results from the loads measurement tests.
  • You will cooperate in the design of control, operation and safety strategies, evaluating and verifying the wind turbines loads. Besides you will cooperate with the team lead in the specification and development of new technical procedures/methodologies or tools needed to improve the team performance and knowledge.

About you

  • You have an Engineer Degree in Aeronautics, Mechanical, Structural or Physics.
  • You have a background within Aeroelasticity and are experienced in Aeroelastic and Mechanical system modelling and simulations, combined with relevant technical experience (around 3-5 years) and solid knowledge in loads calculation related to wind turbine.
  • You have used one or more of the following programs: GH Bladed, BHAWC or NEREA and have additional training (master or complementary courses) in wind energy: Wind Turbine aerodynamics and performance, wind resource. Besides you have knowledge of wind turbine design standards IEC61400-1 and DNVGL.
  • You have experience in the field of data handling for machine operation analysis, ideally wind turbine data analysis, processing data coming from different sensors for loads problem identification or for validation purposes and have knowledge about the controller of wind turbines.
  • As a person you are proactive, a good team player, persistent and self-driven with good communication skills.
  • You have programming skills in any of these languages/tools: C++, Python, VBA, MatLab or Octave and have full professional competence in English.

In case you have acquired your skills in alternative ways your application is just as well appreciated.
