THE POSITION
Mechanical Design Engineer – Product Development

In the rapidly expanding Product Development department at ProInvent A/S, they are helping clients to develop the next generation of products through close collaboration and partnership.
Proinvent are looking for a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer that are ready to take on an exciting career and help our customers bringing products faster to market by applying their deep knowledge within Mechanical Design.
The position is placed in Hørsholm and refers to Head of Mechanical design & Prototyping.
Responsibilities and duties
As Mechanical Design Engineer you are responsible for leading and delivering mechanical product designs, including 3D models and 2D drawings. As part of a cross-functional team, you will need to balance the different requirements (Marketing-, Business-, Performance- and production needs) to make sure the right solution is found. You will ensure that the different functionalities of the product are designed and tested via a structured DFM approach and that all design choices are documented accordingly. You will take part in projects from early ideas, through concept phase and design freeze until production process freeze. You are going to be responsible for the communication with tool makers at selected plastic molding companies and other important stakeholders like sub-contractors etc.

The position requires a thorough understanding of mechanical theory and conversion into practice and a user- centered design approach and the new Mechanical Design Engineer must thrive by solving complex problems by using own as well as the teams’ skills. Lastly, it is important to have the confidence and the courage to enter the client’s world directly.

Practical Experience
- 4 years of mechanical engineering experience from the medical device industry
- Strong knowledge of 3D modeling environments, best practices for modeling and use of FEA analysis to reduce time and cost of fatigue testing
- Experience with mechanical linkage design, structural design, and complex assemblies
- Experience and knowledge of mechanical engineering discipline and application of mechanical theories to practical concept design
- Experience in deriving, refining and prioritizing user and technical requirements at the project team level
- Experience optimizing requirements for production, reliability and cost
- Design skills include an understanding of drafting standards
- Experience with Medical Device Development and Design Control
- Computer proficient and skilled with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and typical file sharing platforms
