Vattenfall is now looking for the right person to fill the position of Manager Site Management in the department Engineering within OU Heat Projects for projects in Germany, The Netherlands and Sweden and possibly other West European countries.OU Heat Projects within BA Heat enables the target of Vattenfall to become fossil free within one generation by developing and realizing projects that create the most optimal asset based solutions for Vattenfall. These high complex projects (e.g. (novel) new build, extension or non-standard modification projects) are developed and realized in three project portfolio teams. The project portfolio teams are supported by two staff departments, Engineering and Project Excellence in a matrix type organisation. The department Engineering comprises of an international team with highly qualified professionals within OU Heat Projects and is responsible for the complete engineering process. This ranges from developing and comparison of technical concepts in the earliest phase of the project, via the technical specification of a plant in the invitation to tender, technical bid evaluation and negotiation and finally managing the technical performance of the contractor(s) up to and including commissioning and start-up.

What are the responsibilities of the Manager Site Management?
As manager site management you will lead the site management department and you are responsible for supporting the project engineering teams with getting the right site management resources, provide site management expertise as required and monitor the performance of site management teams. If required you and your team assist in trouble shooting concerning site management issues. Reporting and advising on project specific issues shall be done to project management.
As manager site management you will manage an international team consisting of about 5 internal site management experts. This includes also commissioning, decomissioning and scheduling expertise. Your main tasks are:
Stimulate new ideas and concepts.
You will be member of the Management Team of the engineering department and report to the Head of Engineering.

Our successful candidate has extensive and proven experience in site management and has demonstrated capabilities in troubleshooting site issues. The Engineering department consists of five teams:
- Development Engineering; a team consisting of Engineering Managers that are responsible for the technical project development, assisting in finding the optimum technical concept for a project and delivering a a Basic Design Package for this concept.
- Execution Engineering; a team consisting of Engineering Managers that are responsible for realizing the selected concepts in projects. This ranges from drafting the technical part of the ITT, technical contract negotiations to reviewing the engineering deliverables of the contracts including hand over documentation.
- Process Engineering; a team consisting of engineers performing process engineering work for both the development and execution phase. The department maintains a technology catalog as input for project development, but is also active in supporting projects with HSE engineering topics like HAZOP, SIL and supporting commissioning.
- Discipline Engineering; a team consisting of discipline engineers like civil, mechanical, electrical and I&C engineers and supporting the projects with their expertise. Besides this the team is maintaining the internal Vattenfall standards for topics and areas not sufficiently covered by (inter-)national standards and guidelines.
- Site Management; a team consisting of experts with regards to site management. The majority of site staff for projects is externally hired for specific projects. The internal site management team has a role in defining the ways of working for the external site staff including monitoring of proper implementation. The team is also actively monitoring progress of site works and will liaise with project management in case of deviations and assist in trouble shooting as required. Team members of the internal site management team will also play site management related roles in specific projects.

- Using soft skills to develop and assist the internal site management experts.
- Ensure a proper guiding of the external site management staff on content.
- Have regular bilaterals with the internal site management experts and the (external) site managers of individual projects.
- Provide solicited and unsolicited advise to project managers.
- Be a sparring partner for and assist the other team managers within the engineering department in site related matters.
- Be firm on quality of and proper authorization of deliverables.
- Have a sharp eye for Vattenfall business interests.
Stimulate new ideas and concepts.
You will be member of the Management Team of the engineering department and report to the Head of Engineering.
Who are we looking for?

You also have extensive experience in managing technical professionals in a matrix organization. You have a very good command of English and German. Your personal characteristics and competences:
- 10 years experience in site management.
- High focus on safety.
- Good interpersonal and management skills.
- Proven experience in situational and inspiring leadership
- Outstanding communication skills, verbally and in writing.
- Structured worker with ability to structure work of others and realise results through others.
- Pragmatic and solution oriented
- Self-propelling and a good team player.
- Experience in international cooperation, culturally sensitive.
- Knowledge of the Vattenfall project framework is a benefit.
- Proven successful experience in troubleshooting.
- You enjoy working in an international, multidisciplinary projects environment and have no problem with frequent travelling.
