For our Engineering Load department within Business Area Wind, we are looking for an Advanced Load Engineer for Offshore Structures to predict, estimate and calculate offshore wind turbine support structure loads.
The Load department is focussed on providing loads and load related services to the entire organization. It is the central point for all questions concerning loads for all windfarm elements and projects in all phases and especially for our future offshore windfarms.
Your job
As our Advanced Load Engineer for Offshore Structures you will be responsible for delivering the centrepiece of the future offshore wind farm together with the existing team of Load and Control Engineers. You will be in charge of modelling the offshore wind turbine including support structure and soil interaction, and applying wave and wind loads. You will be responsible for the load deliveries by ensuring these tasks are channelled in an efficient manner to provide solutions to our customers.
Furthermore, the following main responsibilities will be a central part of your new job:
• Provide load related solutions to internal and external stakeholders / customers for our offshore wind projects, including wind turbine suppliers, certification and external consultants, in due time and with the agreed quality.
• Establish a plan, a setup, a way forward for and execution of load solutions.
• Development of project-specific wind turbine aero- servo- hydro- elastic model, validation and verification.
• Simulate the load response of the entirety of an offshore wind turbine’s lifetime, also accounting for commissioning, decommissioning and eventual power boost and/or lifetime extension.
• Contribute to the development of internal tools.
Your profile:
You have a positive mindset, and are pragmatic and solution oriented. You are a technical and open-minded team player with a structured way of working, capable of maintaining the helicopter perspective and be efficient in your communications. You have an engineering background or similar, preferably with a project management education on top. You have an innovative mind-set and can see yourself working in an environment where we value entrepreneurship, the pragmatic approach and helpfulness in our daily work. You work self-dependent while sharing and seeking knowledge in the team. You show initiative and have a flexible approach to your work. You possess good interpersonal skills and can communicate technical sensitive topics in a clear and constructive way both internally and to external partners. In addition, the following qualifications are important for this position:
• M.Sc. degree in Engineering, technical discipline or equivalent.
• More than 3 years of experience in calculating loads for offshore wind turbines.
• Advanced knowledge and understanding of:
o Aeroelasticity, aerodynamics, structural dynamics, control, hydrodynamics, geotechnics.
o Load simulations.
o Model validation based on measurements.
o Data analysis and handling.
o Software development.
o HAWC2, Python, MatLab.
• Fluent in English, both in speech and writing.
