Kongens Lyngby
We offer two positions as mechanical engineer within our Solid Oxide Research & Development department. We are a group of engineers, scientists and technicians developing the solid oxide high temperature electrolysis technology. Our department works closely with our solid oxide pilot production, the mechanical design department as well as business developers.
Haldor Topsøe has developed some of the most innovative solutions within fuel cell and electrolysis technology since the early years of 2000. With an increased global awareness on sustainability, we are now in an excellent position to ramp up our research and development activities and develop the next generation of solid oxide stacks and system design for efficient high temperature electrolysis, which is one of the enablers to produce sustainable fuels and chemicals through Power-to-X.
Your daily tasks will focus on mechanical design and evaluation of the stack unit design and components for the new stack. You will work in close collaboration with the stack design team, the system development team, the manufacturing development team, production, procurement, sub-suppliers and the R&D Solid Oxide department. You will also handle small requests from e.g. our pilot production to update existing drawings or discuss an issue with a sub-supplier for our current production stack designs.
All work will be carried out in a collaborative environment where openness, a shared drive for results, and a good working atmosphere are highly valued.
Your responsibilities
• Design and evaluate components, tools, equipment and processes for stacks and stack unit design and manufacturing
• Participate in prototype testing and evaluation
• Collaborate with sub-suppliers for prototyping and large-scale production
• Setting up QA/QC for components and processes together with the development and production team
• Handling mechanical issues from site installations, in-house pilot production and sub-suppliers
• Prepare for large scale production involving modifications for reliable manufacture of components.
You
• Are passionate about development work
• See opportunities instead of limitations
• Handle design evaluations with a structured and analytical mindset
• Can handle complex design tasks where creative thinking and new solutions are necessary
• Thrives when challenged by not knowing the immediate way forward
• Have a strong theoretical background in engineering disciplines.
Qualifications
You hold a master’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar. You have good knowledge in the use of product development methods, heat transfer, structural mechanics, fluid mechanics and material behavior under stress and temperature. You are an experienced user of 3D CAD and making 2D fabrication drawings. It is considered an advantage if you have a basic user knowledge of FEM simulations, prior knowledge from working with high temperature materials (metals and ceramics) and/or electrochemistry. We expect you to be fluent in English.
Depending on the candidate, the position and associated tasks will be tailored to a more senior person or a more recent graduate.
Further information
Please contact Senior R&D Manager, Catherine Smitt Meyer, via [email protected] or phone +45 6192 6659 if you want to know more about the position.
If you would like to be part of a team of skilled and professional colleagues in an informal organization, please submit your application and resume in English and enclose a copy of your exam certificates and any references.
Application deadline
