Are you looking for a new exciting opportunity in a global organizational environment and would like to be a part of a green energy transition? Currently, we are looking for a Functional Lead Blade Bearing Engineer with good communication skills and experience as a design engineer!

We are a new international team with members in Porto, Chennai, and Aarhus. We are responsible to design the blade bearings for new turbines from the very first draft to the roll out for serial production. This includes design estimation, supplier engagement, bearing inspection and testing as well as making sure the bearing is structurally sound and produced to the right cost quality. We are also engaged in turbine upgrades, service, and failure mode analysis. We are a highly motivated team which needs to interact with stakeholders across the entire value chain, so no day is like the one before and we have always a challenge at hand

Responsibilities

  • Feasibility Studies and Scoping for new Blade Bearing designs
  • Guide and advise the design engineers on the way in designing new platform bearings
  • Make sure project deliveries are made in time to the right cost and quality
  • Drive risk analysis for the Module
  • Responsible for Module cost, functions and requirements
  • Responsible for technical roadmap of the Module as well as functional excellence initiatives
  • Be leading participant in the sub module value chain team
  • Take charge of the strategic development of Blade Bearing suppliers

Qualifications

  • Masters or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar
  • Minimum five years’ experience as design or development engineer for instance in large organization or research related to bearings e.g. a PhD
  • Sound understanding of machine components
  • Background in System Engineering and DFMEA
  • Experienced in supplier development
  • Technical leadership experience

Following would be considered as an advantage:

  • Knowledge in structural computation (ANSYS or similar)
  • Programming knowledge (MATLAB or Python preferably)
  • CAD experience
  • Tribology and or material engineering background

Competencies

  • Very good English oral and written
  • Good communication skills particular in an intercultural set up
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and stakeholders at the same time
  • guide the technical decision making on designated projects and be the contact person to Vestas and supplier stakeholders
  • be able to understand complex technical and organizational problems fast and evaluate the problems and suggest and promote possible solutions

Additional information

Your work location will be at Vestas office at Aarhus, DK. Up to 20 travel days/year is expected.
