Role & Department

Canon EMEA is looking for an EMEA Tax Specialist in the Tax department. In this role you will provide specialist support for the EMEA Tax function; ensure EMEA Tax compliance with focus on Corporate Tax compliance of the Dutch Fiscal Unity with oversight of all Tax accounting and reporting for all Canon EMEA group entities, management of tax issues, effective tax planning and general support for the EMEA Tax Manager.

Tax compliance in EMEA

  • Ensure compliance of the Dutch corporate tax fiscal unity of Canon Finance Netherlands BV with tax rules (Corporate Tax; legal & USGAAP reporting)
  • Support compliance with tax rules by all legal entities in EMEA region (Corporate Tax; legal & USGAAP reporting).
  • Support all Tax accounting and tax reporting (legal & USGAAP reporting) for all Canon EMEA group companies (30+ main entities)
  • Support the reporting for (Public-) Country-by-Country Reporting, BEPS Pillar 2, DAC6, etc.

Tax Accounting

  • Complete tax accounting for CENV, Completing periodic tax provision for CENV single entity and relevant fiscal unity tax accounting work
  • Oversight of current and deferred tax accounting for all the Canon EMEA legal entities, ensuring proper processes are in place to ensure complete, accurate and correctly valued tax accounting/reporting all in accordance with USGAAP.
  • Providing appropriate information and explanations to CINC and external auditors on Group tax accounting matters
  • Providing support/training to all legal entity controllers to ensure they can make complete, accurate and correctly valued tax accounting/reporting.
  • Support Quarterly tax accounting book closing process to ensure all tax related deadlines for Financial book closing/reporting and provision of tax information to external auditors are met.
  • Ensure Strong Internal Control and complete SOX and audit support tasks for all tax processes. Any issues identified to be follow-up and escalate where required.

Support EMEA Tax Manager with management of tax issues

  • Support effective management of tax issues throughout EMEA with early identification, documentation, risk mitigation, reporting and appropriate
  • escalation.
  • Support policy/strategy for resolving tax issues with reference to EMEA Tax Manager /Head of Tax with approval where appropriate.

Support EMEA Tax Manager with tax planning

  • Support Effective tax planning for EMEA business models, structure and operation to ensure that tax expense is optimized in line with Canon Inc tax strategy and appropriate steps taken to mitigate risk.
  • Provide active support to the EMEA business units to optimize the business models to support the achievement of their objectives.
  • Support business acquisition, disposal and restructuring projects from a tax viewpoint where required.
