Do you want to join a new team setting up a multi-year international project managed by the Global Protection Unit in HQ? Or existing donor projects across our Protection and Civil Society Engagement Units?
We are looking for two motivated Projects Grants and Finance Officers where one will support the start-up of the ASPIRE-project, together with the team in Copenhagen and in Uganda, and the other will work with our Civil Society Engagement Unit and Protection Unit currently mainly in relation to key Global donor funded projects DEMAC (Diaspora Emergency Action & Coordination) and DEEP (The Data Entry and Exploration Platform).
Who are we?
ASPIRE: The ASPIRE project is a unique and progressive research project in partnership with UNHCR. The overall objective of ASPIRE is to provide in-depth new knowledge about how young people, affected by the civil war(s) in South Sudan, over time, contribute to peaceful coexistence in their communities. The research will be implemented alongside UNHCR’s Regional Youth Peacebuilding Project (RYPP), starting in camps in West Nile, Uganda with plans to expand to more countries.
DEMAC: DEMAC is a global initiative aiming at enhancing mutual knowledge and coordination, communication and coherence between diaspora humanitarian actors and the institutional humanitarian system.
DEEP: DEEP is an online platform which meets the need for common means to compile, store, interpret and share data and information, applying cutting-edge technologies and analytical workflows. The platform is being adopted by an increasing number of humanitarian organizations seeking to achieve a more robust, collaborative and transparent approach to needs assessments and analysis.
About the job
These positions will lead on general project support, administrative tasks, finance and grant management and support other projects in the department when needed. The positions will be working closely with the support departments and with colleagues on other global projects.
Grants Management:
- Supporting fundraising efforts in close coordination with the Project Managers
- Ensuring all grant documentation is up to date and uploaded to Dynamics (ERP)
- Supporting M&E on projects when required
Donor compliance:
- Ensuring that contractual obligations are met in terms of finance and administrative requirements
- Ensuring that donor rules and procedures are understood and respected
- Liaising with donors (e.g. reports, grants management and administrative issues)
- Leading on all sub-contracts/agreements with partners, and ensure they align with donor regulations
Finance:
- Ensuring financial monitoring and budget follow-up, and supporting project teams in budget planning
- Supporting the Project Managers to ensure implementation of projects according to work and budget plans
- Supporting the Project Managers in donor and internal reporting requirements; prepare financial reports and align with narrative; review narrative in line with agreement and proposal
- Processing payments related to the projects
Support Services:
- Leading on all procurement and HR processes in line with DRC and Donor rules
- Practical and administrative assistance in relation to field visits, workshop arrangements, trainings and conferences
- Supporting any other finance and administrative tasks for the units as and when required
About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to have experience working with project support and grants/finance management from the International Humanitarian sector. All employees should master DRC's core competencies: Communicating, Taking the lead, Collaborating, Striving for excellence and Demonstrating integrity.
Moreover, we also expect the following:
Required
- Minimum 3 years of work experience from a humanitarian/development organisation and/or from donor administration in similar position
- Relevant educational background (university degree or equivalent) and proven finance qualifications from work experience
- Fluency in both oral and written English, with experience in report writing
- Experience with administrative and procurement procedures
- Proactive, flexible and detail-oriented approach to tasks and a service minded approach
- Good collaboration and communication skills and ability to build good working relations with people from different cultural backgrounds
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced working environment
We offer
Contract length: Permanent position (though the positions are project funded and thereby subject to continued funding)
Workplace: Borgergade 10, 1300 Copenhagen, Denmark
Start date: As soon as possible, latest 1 July 2023
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and AC. The position is at “fuldmægtig” level. This is a national position for which local terms and conditions apply.
