Would you like to put your superior communications skills into action for a leading, global company within the maritime industry? Then the role as Student Assistant in Communications at Svitzer Europe could be the perfect opportunity for you. You will work directly with our Head of Communications in Europe to inform, motivate and engage our diverse workforce and external stakeholders. You will get exposure to a wide variety of tasks and disciplines spanning both internal and external communication. Not least, will you get valuable hands-on experience and a unique opportunity to develop your skills, while deepening your understanding of the role communications plays in a global company.

You will be joining a dynamic and highly international maritime company operating in 30+ countries across four regions. We are a global industry leader working to further manifest our position within towage by being at the forefront of customer needs and industry developments, for instance when it comes to sustainability and decarbonisation. As well as a getting the opportunity for professional development within Svitzer, you will become part of Students@Maersk, an internal network community that hosts social events and learning activities for student assistants within the Maersk Group.

You will join a small team tasked with shaping communication in Svitzer Europe. You will apply your academic knowledge and skills to a range of communication challenges. While some tasks are given, you get much freedom to shape your role and contributions to the team. At the same time, you are expected to embrace the chance to work independently and take responsibility for driving your own projects.

The role is based at Svitzer’s European headquarters in Copenhagen. Working hours are flexible, and we expect you to work fifteen to twenty hours per week. Some work-related travel should also be expected.

Key responsibilities

As a student assistant in Svitzer Europe Communications, you will be working closely with colleagues in Copenhagen and across Europe to:

  • Assist in driving communication that engages both onshore and offshore colleagues around our strategic priorities

  • Write and produce engaging content for internal and external channels based on research and interviews

  • Assist in ad hoc communication assignments as needed, e.g. video editing, website updates, and providing internal communications support to functional leaders

  • Develop, implement, and conduct regular reporting on communications related KPIs


We are looking for

We are looking for a confident, energetic person who enjoys freedom to operate independently and take pride in delivering quality work. You have excellent, preferably native level, proficiency in both verbal and written English, as well as outstanding copywriting skills. Further, we expect that you:

  • Are in the last part of your bachelor’s or in the early part of your master’s in business communications, public relations, or a related field

  • Have a passion for communication and storytelling - in writing, visual media and in person

  • Are a creative copy writer and thorough proof-reader with the confidence and flair for turning technical and complex input from subject matter experts into clear, appealing communication

  • Are a multi-tasker, who approaches tasks with a high level of energy and who is open to the day-to-day challenges of a busy, international work environment

  • Have a student work permit if you are not an EU citizen.
