My name is Rashed Nakkache, and I am leading the Architecture & Development area in Svitzer Technology. I am looking for a FX Designer to join my team in a newly established role. Working together with Product Owners, UI Developers, and Software Engineers you will be creating products to drive operational efficiency. You will be an important contributor to support our strategy of taking a lead in the maritime industry within decarbonization.

Svitzer is a towage company, which means we help our customers maneuver their larger ships safely and timely in and out of port. We operate globally. Most of our business is to support container vessels, cargo ships, cruise ships and navy vessels but we also address emergencies like vessels being adrift or offshore fires. Architecture & Development is a small but growing team in Technology. Our team consists of solution architects, developers and soon also technical product owners and you. As a FX Designer, you work across the design cycle, by generating a detailed understanding of user needs, creating conceptual and detailed designs, and validating them. You will be involved in commercial innovation initiatives, where we use proof of concepts for customer validation of ideas for new products. You are responsible for research, design and validation, but also play a crucial part in challenging and refining the scope and functionality of the products. This is a new capability in Svitzer, so we expect you to bring the rest of our organization along by promoting Design Thinking to stakeholders through your work and deliverables.

Key responsibilities

  • Make conceptual ideas and refine them into a useful and valuable product experience
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Engineers, and other partners to craft an intuitive, cohesive, and delightful experience from product conception to launch
  • Map and define the different personas that use our products
  • Responsible for implementation of discovery and design workshops to visualize requirements
  • Develop site maps, user flows, wireframes, mock-ups, and production-ready specs. You will be responsible for the entire design process
  • Plan and conduct interviews to understand user needs, behaviours, and pain points
  • Enables transformation of ideas, business opportunities, research, and creative vision into desirable outcomes for our users
  • Set the standard for how we work with design for our products ensuring a consistent and cohesive experience across
  • Provide and solicit feedback from other designers outside of Svitzer to continually raise the bar of quality
  • Promote Design Thinking and a user centric design approach and bring the organization along
  • Identify user research needs and conduct usability tests
  • Contribute to developing our Technology organization within your capability area

We are looking for

Someone who is passionate about solving problems for our employees and customers through designing intuitive solutions. You genuinely want to be part of enabling the ambitious green agenda of our company and make a difference through simple well-designed products. You take ownership and work independently with stakeholders, while liaising with your Technology colleagues. You want to transform and improve the way we work in the technology organization, especially within design thinking.

Your background is related to product design with at least 4 years of experience with desktop experiences, product-, interaction-, and information design. You have a great ability to simplify and turn complex interactions into intuitive user experiences and have worked in an agile development process and/or Iterative FX environment – and an environment that is undergoing substantial change. You are a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others and believe in a collaborative approach to delivering value in an agile setup.

It is important you communicate in a clear, concise, professional and direct manner. You are fluent in English as this is our company language. This combined with your excellent problem-solving skills and strong analytical mindset, enables you to communicate ideas, do research, inspire to creativity in the designed solutions as well as explaining your design rationale to different levels of the organization. You can build strong trusted professional relationships with your key partners, making your recommendations trusted by all parties. You are also able to prioritize and problem solving where needed.
