Student Affairs Counselor
We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate student-counselor to join our International Department. The responsibilities of the student-counselor include supporting the emotional, academic, and professional growth of students, developing and monitoring counseling support programs, and providing educational guidance.
To be a successful student-counselor, all students are treated with patience and commitment to the challenges they are facing. The student-counselor has a strong level of social perceptiveness, knowledge of cultural diversity and the ability to make students feel safe and comfortable.

Employment will be secured as per collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the AC trade union.

For more than 25 years, Niels Brock has offered a range of British university degrees in cooperation with De Montfort University, Leicester. We are currently offering BA (Hons) Business Administration and BSc (Hons) Business Studies in collaboration with De Montfort University.
Our students are international and primarily from South Asia. They come to us with a diversity of educational, ethnic, and religious backgrounds as well as having English as their second language. You should:
- Have a keen interest in guiding/counselling students (experience with special needs desired).
- Be interested in running academic hearings and investigating ways to reduce academic malpractice.
- Have an interest in organising and facilitating academic workshops and events.
- Be Interested in working with academic strategy.
Student Counselor Responsibilities:
- Listening to students' academic, emotional, social, and behavioral concerns in an open and nonjudgmental way.
- Working directly with students to develop solutions and coping strategies to set achievable goals.
- Providing one-on-one career guidance and skills assessment to assist with career development.
- Developing, monitoring, and assisting with counseling programs.
- Offering referrals to outside resources, such as for mental health, substance or other abuse, or vocational-related activities.
- Involved with student-clubs, student-activities, and events related to employability and relations with Danish businesses and jobs.

The requirements for the position
You possess:
- The ability to speak and write English fluently (Danish is not a requirement.) Note that conversational English capability differs from mastery of the language at a sufficiently high level to teach in an academic setting. This position demands exceptionally strong English language speaking and writing skills.
- Degree in counseling, psychology, anthropology or social work.
- Master's degree in counseling may be advantageous.
- Minimum of 2 years professional counseling experience, preferably in an educational field.
- Experience with counseling principles, techniques, and practices as applied to students' problems and developmental needs.
- Excellent active listening and communication skills.
- Social and cultural perceptiveness and an understanding of body language.
- Excellent interpersonal and mediation skills.
