Roles & Responsibilities

• Role Description:

The Data Center Technician role is responsible for providing first line support for installation / de-installation of Infrastructure installed in the Data Centre. This will require the candidate to be able to perform co-ordination activities, as well as providing Hands & Eyes support. The role will also entail troubleshooting to find solutions.

The focus of this position is to provide support services to Customers and and internal teams while maintain a stable computer server room environment.

• Role Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate Device and cabling installations / de-installations in the Computer Rooms.
  • Manage Data Centre Capacities optimally ie. Space, Power and Cooling
  • Prepare Rack Cabinet space for Power, Cabling and Cooling.
  • Perform Patch cabling for customers and internal teams.
  • Respond to customer Hands & Eyes requests.
  • Problem Troubleshooting
  • Perform tape swaps
  • Maintain Server Room Environment
  • Perform Data Center security monitoring and ensure appropriate health and safety protocols and working standards are adhered too.
  • Respond to and escalate infrastructure larms
  • Visual inspections of Facility
  • Perform routine Server room clean up activities
  • Maintain adequate supply levels of Cabling, and other Supplies.
  • As and when required, escort Visitors/Suppliers within the secure environments.
  
  

Qualifications & Experience

• Education:
  • Minimum College degree or Technical training in telecommunications/electrical or similar
  • Certification in Data Centre or Network Infrastructure Programs would be preferred
  
  

• Experience in a Data Centre environment:
  • Experience in Data Centre operations would be preferred
  • Basic knowledge of
    • Power Systems (UPS', PDUs, Power-strips)
    • Cooling Systems (HVACs, air flow dynamics)
    • Raised floor dynamics (Server Racking)
    • Cabling Systems (Power and Data/Network Cabling)
    
    
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a fast-paced IT field is required
  • Customer service experience is required
  
  

• Language:
  • Bilingual (Danish and English) is required.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills is essential
  • Well developed interpersonal skills
  
  

• IT Experience:
  • IT skills as per Role Responsibilities and Responsibilities Section
  • PC Skills – working knowledge of MS Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Basic knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, and servers
  
  

• Other:
  • Incumbent must be prepared to submit a PET Police Security Clearance
  • Persistent and self-motivated.

  • Working within a Data Centre environmentwith potentially high ambient noises at times.
  • Requires multi-tasking and ability to work under pressure during emergencies.
  • Might require occasional after hour work activities.
  • The role entails occasional lifting of Server equipment and potentially moving around Rack Cabinets and other Accessories.
