Risk and Functional Safety Engineer, Power-to-X

We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Risk and Functional Safety Specialist to join our team of 50 committed colleagues and contribute to the advancement of sustainable energy solutions through the development of a state-of-the-art PtX-plant – the first of its’ kind.
Your new role
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of the plant's operations, processes, and equipment. As a Risk and Functional Safety Specialist, you will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to identify, assess, and mitigate potential safety hazards and risks associated with the PtX-plant's design, construction, and operation.

Your new role
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of the plant's operations, processes, and equipment. As a Risk and Functional Safety Specialist, you will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to identify, assess, and mitigate potential safety hazards and risks associated with the PtX-plant's design, construction, and operation.
Your tasks will include:
- Conduct thorough safety assessments and hazard analyses for the PtX-plant's development, including design, construction, and operational phases.
- Identify potential safety hazards, process risks, and operational challenges related to the PtX-plant's equipment, systems, and processes.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and project management teams to integrate safety considerations into the design and operational plans of the PtX-plant.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs to educate plant personnel on safe operating practices, emergency response procedures, and mitigation strategies.
- Assist in the preparation of safety documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Job prerequisites
- A Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, process safety, industrial safety, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Proven experience (5+ years) as a Technical Safety Specialist or similar role in industrial plant development or process safety.
- In-depth understanding of process safety principles, risk assessment methodologies, and relevant industry codes and standards (e.g. API, NFPA, OSHA).
- Experience with safety analysis tools (such as PHA, HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA, and SIL assessments).
- Strong familiarity with PtX-technologies, chemical processes, and associated safety considerations is highly desirable.
- Certification such as Certified Process Safety Professional (CCPSC) or equivalent is advantageous.
