HR Crewing Assistant

Do you have a couple of years' experience with crewing and/or HR? Do you have experience with various responsibilities within the scope of crewing/HR? Do you enjoy cooperating with colleagues and multiple stakeholders? Do you thrive in an international environment? You may be our new colleague for a HR Crewing Assistant role in our crewing team.

We are looking for a HR Crewing Assistant to join a small team with engaged and professional crewing colleagues in our office in Svendborg. In this role you will be key in the successful manning of all of our tugs in the cluster (Denmark, Sweden & Germany) and the smooth operation of our local office in Svendborg. The role is key to creating good engagement and thriving people on our tugs, as well as in the office. The role is employee facing and is key to creating a good employment experience for our offshore crew.

Who we are

Svitzer is a leading Global Towage Operator providing towage and sustainable marine solutions to make ports and terminals safer, more efficient and more climate friendly. We have customers in 30+ countries across four Regions: Australia, AMEA, Europe and America.

In recent years, we have grown through new contracts and acquisitions, and growing continues to be a focus. At the same time, we are implementing our new Strategy, which prioritises Decarbonization and Technology. However, our standard marine services remain critical to us.

The Position

The position is a full time employment and we offer a competitive salary and benefits package with an annual bonus scheme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Make short- and long term plans for the assignment of offshore employees to the tugs.

  • Assist on adequately manning of tugs.

  • Assist on ensuring valid and relevant certification for crews.

  • Keeping our crew portal Omega up to date.

  • Keeping our HR portal Workday up to date.

  • Ordering and administering crew courses, hotels and rental cars.

  • Assist on on/offboarding of off-shore crew.

  • Handle mail and parcels coming to the office and some other ad hoc office tasks.

  • Tug boat visits.


Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate has all or some of the below experience:

  • Most important is a strong sense for details, service-mindedness, ease in communicating through all levels in an organization and ability to build sustainable working relationships is a must.

  • Fluent in Danish and have a command of verbal and written English is required. Some understanding of Swedish is an advantage.

  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

  • An ability to maintain an analytical and accurate manner, even under challenging circumstances, will be important. We operate in an ever-changing environment and the ability to change focus and prioritize on the go is a must.

  • You have a positive attitude and outspoken collaboration skills.

  • Minimum 1-2 years of work experience and relevant education is preferred but not required.

  • Experience from the maritime industry, for example nautical, seagoing, chartering, port or agency operations is an advantage.
