We are looking for an Intern with an analytical mindset, good communications skills, and a passion for the humanitarian medical agenda for a 5-month internship in the Advocacy and Analysis Unit (AAU) at our office in Copenhagen.
The purpose of the AAU Intern is to support advancing MSF’s advocacy agenda in Denmark. MSF provides humanitarian medical assistance to all patients around the world according to their needs regardless of who they are and where they come from.
With the AAU team, the Intern will support all ongoing activities and priorities of the AAU unit. This will include conducting analysis and research on key humanitarian and global health agendas and supporting initiatives to increase awareness of MSF’s humanitarian and medical priorities among different audiences in Denmark through events, campaigns, and different outreach activities.
The Intern will have the opportunity to focus on a specific topic of the Intern’s own choice and conduct related research and analysis. This will be defined in collaboration with the AAU team during the initial weeks of the internship.
Responsibilities
The AAU Intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks within advocacy and analysis and public outreach and engagement, including:

As an integral part of the AAU team and MSF Denmark, the Intern will contribute actively to maintaining a positive teamwork spirit and support colleagues with joint tasks or in times of need of extra hands.
Qualifications
To be considered for the position, candidates must be enrolled in university in a relevant field of studies, e.g., political science/global politics, human rights, health/global health, during the 2024 spring semester.

Responsibilities
The AAU Intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks within advocacy and analysis and public outreach and engagement, including:
Analysis and advocacy activities
- Produce well-researched talking points, reports, background papers, and analytical briefings on different humanitarian topics and thematic advocacy areas, including access to medicines, mental health and survivors of violence, planetary health, and international humanitarian law.
- Stay up to date about Danish political debates for potential engagement for MSF Denmark.
- Stay up to date about MSF’s international humanitarian and medical priorities and guidelines.
- Participate in developing, implementing, and evaluating MSF advocacy strategies and plans.
Public outreach and engagement initiatives
- Support the organisation of events, panel discussions, and initiatives where MSF Denmark can build awareness on key humanitarian, medical priorities and advocate and encourage change and action, including at the World Health Assembly 2024, Folkemødet (June 2024) and the UNGA high-level meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance (September 2024).
- Produce advocacy-related outreach material and event toolkits that creatively conveys and communicates humanitarian and medical topics for different audiences.
As an integral part of the AAU team and MSF Denmark, the Intern will contribute actively to maintaining a positive teamwork spirit and support colleagues with joint tasks or in times of need of extra hands.
Qualifications
To be considered for the position, candidates must be enrolled in university in a relevant field of studies, e.g., political science/global politics, human rights, health/global health, during the 2024 spring semester.
In addition, the ideal candidate has the following experience, competences, and skills:
- Experience from volunteering or working with another NGO
- Knowledge about humanitarian principles
- Knowledge about humanitarian or global health issues
- Knowledge about advocacy approaches and tools
- Proficiency in Danish and/or English
- Good communication skills (written and spoken)
- Good team working and networking skills
- Analytical mindset
- Self-driven and independent
