Symphogen is in an exciting phase as the Antibody Center of Excellence in Servier with a continued focus on the development of antibody-based therapeutic products for the treatment of cancer and inflammatory/autoimmune diseases.

As Team Manager Purification, you will lead the highly skilled Purification team, which is responsible for the downstream process development of monoclonal antibodies, as well as novel antibody formats, including bispecifics and ADCs.

With direct report to Director CMC, Drug Substance Development, you will enter a role with a high degree of cross-functional collaboration with the two other CMC departments, Drug Product Development and Analytical Chemistry, with colleagues from research, and external CMOs.

Examples of key responsibilities (not limited to):

• Timely material supply supporting lead candidate selection in the discovery phase
• In-house downstream process development for early and late-stage clinical stage programs
• Technology transfer to CMOs and oversight of outsourced activities
• Process characterisation and validation for late-stage programs
• Contribute to the downstream development strategy including next generations of antibody formats such as bispecific antibodies and ADCs
• Project/development of specific tasks as purification scientist/SME

To thrive in this position, you have extensive hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry within the downstream process development of antibody products. Ideally with managerial experience, e.g. from a line function or a project team. It is an advantage if you have experience with novel antibody formats such as bispecific and ADCs as well as late-stage process characterisation and validation. Finally, you have knowledge about GMP requirements, preparation of regulatory documentation, and collaboration/oversight with outsourced activities to CMOs.

You have a relevant master’s degree in pharmaceuticals, biologics or similar, and you are fluent in English, in speech and writing.

You are a person who gets involved in your surroundings and has a pragmatic and proactive style of work. You are good at setting directions and encourages to initiative and team collaboration through a coaching management style.
