JOB TITLE - Customs and Trade Compliance Professional

LOCATION - the UK, remote

HOURS - 40 hours

ABOUT THE ROLE.

We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our Global Customs & Trade Compliance Team as a Customs and Trade Compliance Professional based in the UK. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and compliant movement of goods across borders, supporting our business operations globally. As part of a dynamic team, you will work to optimize customs processes, ensuring compliance with ever-evolving trade regulations.

WHAT WILL YOU BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?

• Managing and improving customs processes, ensuring compliance with UK customs legislation.
• Overseeing import and export declarations, including customs clearing, duty management, and reconciliation of tariffs and VAT.
• Managing HMRC deferment accounts, excise duties, and compliance with regulations such as CMR and Incoterms.
• Working with factories and freight forwarders to ensure timely and compliant shipments.
• Identifying opportunities to improve customs processes with our 3PL partners in the UK.
• Staying up to date with local customs legislation and supporting the implementation of new regulations across our EU Planning & Fulfilment teams.
• Supporting the UK business in maintaining compliance with customs and trade requirements.

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WILL BE REQUIRED?

• Residence in the UK and a background in customs services with a solid understanding of UK customs legislation.
• Familiarity with customs and excise processes, including license management and EMCS (Excise Management & Control System).
• Strong administrative and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (such as SAP or AX).
• Proactive, pragmatic, and able to identify process improvements.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to engage with various stakeholders.
• Knowledge of import/export declarations, duty drawback, and HMRC compliance is highly desirable.
