In your role as Deployment Engineer, you will have the opportunity to put your technological automation experience to great use in order to assist the implementation and update of APM Terminals’ current operations and boost business outcomes.
You will be a part of a highly skilled project team where you will be in charge of implementing the proposed project in the terminal operation and ensuring timetable adherence.
You drive the end-to-end onsite technical automation product deployment process; from site preparation to installation and commissioning, integration and live equipment testing. You document, deploy and support the integration of automation products with other products, assets and systems and you maintain a consistent deployment approach across all relevant sites reporting any related challenges to the Deployment Manager. You collect and review all relevant technical documentation from the terminal/suppliers and follow up on or request for improvements as needed.
You offer support in the deployment process from roadmap creation to go-live and finally stable operations, defining deployment specific performance criteria and ongoing feedback related to deployment status and technical challenges/issues.
You ensure that the technical documentation is updated and available for all stakeholders. You oversee technical site works conducted by suppliers and you provide support if and as needed in consultation with the Deployment Manager, with whom you will work closely together to continuously improve ongoing work and deployment approach
• Drive the product discovery process from developing a profound understanding of customer needs to bringing the product into life
• Provide regular demonstrations of the products to Deployment Manager and other stakeholders
• Work closely with Ops and QA reps within the deployment team to integrate technical deliverables with Ops (e.g. use cases) and QA (e.g. testing process es and tools) as well as with the global product team to ensure product integrity
• Be a part of defining and relevant testing milestones and aligning on the outcomes
• Support with onboarding and training of newcomers to the team
• Continuously monitor and report on all deployment-related risks and opportunities to the Deployment Manager
• Creation and execution of test cases set up by the team via ALM
• Set up proper test plan before start of testing phase
Ideally, you are an Automation Engineer or a related profession. Your familiarity with automation is an asset, and it is preferable if you have prior experience of working within the shipping, logistics or port/container terminals/equipment sectors.
• You have professional expertise and deep knowledge of deploying industrial automation solutions involving hands-on control systems and instrumentation in the field
• You have the ability to design and implement operational technology infrastructure for automation systems and knowledge of end-to-end automation solution control; from strategy and procedure development to testing, implementation and integration
• You have proven technical expertise in automation, industrial production controls and related processes, some knowledge of and experience in modeling and simulation (could be loop tieback and first principal models and Virtual Terminal) and methodological knowhow to create iterative design, development and testing cycles (from end-to-end throughout the deployment) are key to be successful in this role
• You have a can-do attitude and the ability to address complicated challenges in an organized manner on a daily basis by generating, analyzing, and implementing solutions.
