The position As Corporate Counsel for Novo Nordisk, you will pursue innovative approaches to handling challenging legal issues, including forming strategies and ensuring execution in close collaboration with internal and external partners. The potential impact of your work is large, given that you will: Be working on cases that are broad in scope and complexity, identifying critical legal issues and strategic business options Have a key role in supporting the business by ensuring successful outcomes in high-impact contract negotiations, including sourcing and outsourcing of raw material and services for production, procurement of equipment, device and drug manufacturing, and distribution of our products Collaborate with, and influence, senior stakeholders Work closely with our Global Legal and other colleagues across the world, leveraging all relevant competencies Your responsibilities will include being the legal partner to Local Manufacturing – an area of 750+ employees. Alongside 30 employees in Denmark in our HQ function and our sites, in Algeria, Iran, Japan and Russia, as well as 3 Contract Manufacturing Organisations in Bangladesh, India and Saudi Arabia, we work together as a virtual factory. We serve our patients every day by delivering highest quality products with excellence. Each site has a legal function that is part of the Local Manufacturing legal network, which you will help oversee. In addition, you will drive ad hoc projects and activities focused on optimising the way we work, e.g. within ensuring optimal contracting setup, external counsel management, offshoring to our contracting CoE in India, knowledge sharing and training.
Because of the global nature of our work, some travel is expected (2-3 weeks/year). Qualifications You hold a law degree combined with 3+ years’ post-qualification experience. It is an advantage to have previous experience with international contracting. To thrive and succeed we expect you to bring and be interested in further developing: Strong legal acumen, including within drafting and negotiating international commercial contracts Business partnering skills, including a proactive approach to understanding our customers’ needs and enabling business results through best-in-class legal advice Project management skills, including ability to drive multiple cases and projects simultaneously in a structured manner, and to take a strategic approach to risk management and prioritisation Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills, which enable you to clearly convey complex issues and navigate among stakeholders from different cultures and business functions Proactive and resourceful approach with focus on quality and ability to perform under pressure Ability to speak and write English fluently You will bring to your work a high level of energy, positive attitude, and team-oriented approach, and will join a team of highly motivated, hard-working, and collaborative professionals. About the department Global Legal is responsible for managing legal risks and opportunities in Novo Nordisk and for driving the Global Legal strategy. With more than 300 colleagues globally, the Global Legal function reports to the CFO of Novo Nordisk. The Pharma Law team provides legal advice across the value chain, ranging from clinical & commercial to product supply. You will be part of an ambitious and dynamic team consisting of 15 employees in our corporate headquarters in Bagsværd, Denmark.
