The position We are currently seeking a Senior Process Engineer or Senior Development Scientist with a strong scientific and technical background in chemical manufacturing, particularly with expertise in SPPS (Solid Phase Peptide Synthesis) and organic chemistry on a larger scale. The ideal candidate should have experience in process chemistry, including scale-up and process transfers, as well as process engineering, encompassing equipment design, establishment, and automation. Previous work in cGMP-regulated chemical manufacturing areas would be highly advantageous. Your main responsibilities will include: Providing technical guidance during process transfers and implementations at Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) for SPPS projects. This involves evaluating, challenging, and supporting proposed technical designs, plans, and setups in collaboration with our CMO partners. Participating in cross-organizational groups and taking ownership of process design and implementation, as well as assigned deliverables in technical transfer, execution, evaluation, and process validation. Acting as a subject matter expert in process, product, and equipment, supporting cross-functional projects to ensure the completion of scientific and technical documentation at the required level prior to final process validation and registration with authorities. Offering critical scientific and technical support, as well as troubleshooting for process execution at CMOs. Providing input on process and equipment changes, as well as deviations, and participating in systematic problem-solving efforts. Additionally, you will contribute as an author/co-author, reviewer, and input provider for regulatory registration documents. This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with various stakeholders, including Late-Stage Development, analysis teams, Global Contract Manufacturing (GCM), QA, RA, Sourcing, pilot facilities, production facilities, and external partners. Some travel activities may be expected. Please note that this position does not involve practical laboratory work. Qualifications To succeed in this role, you have: M.Sc. or Ph.D. in chemical engineering, with a focus on organic chemistry or equivalent. Experience with chemical manufacturing, preferably by SPPS High level of relevant GMP experience and understanding of GMP requirements for synthetic API manufacturing Knowledge of the principles of process chemistry is required. Experience with scale-up and process transfer to large-scale manufacturing is a strong advantage. Good technical knowledge of and experience with equipment design and automation. Good understanding of unit operations associated with chemical manufacturing, preferably by SPPS Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders across disciplines in development and production, As a person, you possess a solution-oriented mindset and have a strong practical capability to translate theory into practical solutions for technical challenges. Your positive attitude enables you to work efficiently, whether as a team player or independently, even when dealing with complex tasks, ensuring timely progress. About the department As part of Novo Nordisk’s Product Supply organization, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (PS API) is responsible for the manufacturing of APIs for Novo Nordisk’s products. You will be assigned to Manufacturing Development (MDev), a cross-functional area that works at the interface between R&D and full-scale manufacturing with a focus on process understanding, implementation, and optimization.
