The Position The International Government Affairs & Policy team (IGAP) is a key part of Novo Nordisk’s Global Public Affairs & Patient Relations department. The IGAP team is responsible for supporting public affairs strategy and implementation in key Novo Nordisk affiliates around the globe and does so with a foundation and clear understanding of international political dynamics and geopolitical tensions, which are then translated to concrete business recommendations and actions on the ground. The position as Policy and Public Affairs Lead will be responsible for Novo Nordisk’s strategic co-operation with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and support Novo Nordisk affiliates in North America (USA & Canada). The role will also offer ad hoc support across the Global Public Affairs & Patient Relations department as needed and in accordance with new challenges. The position will be based in Novo Nordisk HQ in Bagsværd, Denmark and will involve business travel to the geographies covered. The role will involve: Driving the co-operation with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which cuts across different functions and geographies at Novo Nordisk and requires continuous development and prioritization. Driving foreign affairs related engagements and supporting senior management participation through well-written and informed briefs and presentations. Understanding local market conditions and political dynamics in the USA and Canada to translate public efforts into business decisions. The ability to build strong relationships internally and externally to ensure that local public affairs efforts are supported by the Global Public Affairs team, through everything from high level political delegations to therapy specific policy work. Qualifications The ideal candidate has: A relevant Master’s degree (e.g. international relations/political economy, political science, business, economics, law or related fields). 7+ years of experience in working with international political agendas (foreign policy, industrial policy, health policy, etc.) in either public sector or large companies. Fluent in Danish and outstanding communication skills in written and spoken English. Substantial experience in working with senior management and successfully navigating large organisations. A track record of building and driving external relationships and ensuring strategic direction and ownership to create results. A history of successfully managing projects with attention to detail, process, and stakeholder management. Excellent interpersonal skills and a track record of building professional relationships with credibility and trust. As an individual, you can work both independently and in teams in a structured manner, ensuring that nothing falls between the cracks. You enjoy collaborating with colleagues with diverse perspectives and expertise, and you are not afraid of challenging the status quo. About the department Global Public Affairs & Patient Relations is part of Novo Nordisk’s Corporate Strategy and Corporate Affairs (CSCA) department.
