As a Chemical Engineer at , you will be instrumental in designing and optimizing synthetic routes for the active pharmaceutical ingredients. You will work closely with a diverse team of chemists, engineers and analytical scientists to ensure robust drug substance manufacture. Furthermore, your main responsibilities will include: Developing mechanistic models for chemical steps such as reaction, filtration and distillation. Designing and evaluating experimental kinetic studies of different reactions to provide safe, efficient, robust and scalable processes. Supporting late-stage development activities, such as control strategy, Fate & Purge study, PAR. Supporting technology transfer to manufacturing sites and process scale-up activities. Exploring efficient algorithms for parameter fitting and implementing model-design of experiments. Supporting lab-based activities. Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have
Essential Skills: A MSc or PhD in chemical engineering or similar subject area. Good knowledge of the science behind process models and broad modelling experience across API pharmaceutical manufacturing platforms and unit operations. Experience in relevant modeling software e.g. Aspen Plus, Matlab, Python, gPROMS. Knowledge in reaction engineering, especially reaction kinetics, reactor design, multi-phase reaction systems and thermodynamics. Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex results in a clear and concise manner. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, contributing to a collaborative and supportive work environment. Desirable Skills: Experience with chemical process development scale-up and/or technical transfer. 2-5 years of experience in the life science industry, preferably in process development and scale-up. Knowledge of analytical techniques for protein analysis. About the department
As part of the PSQIT organisation, Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMC) Development & Scaling makes a real difference for patients with chronic diseases across the world. We develop, manufacture, and distribute drug candidates for clinical trials and have a strong culture with a “can do” mindset.
The job is placed in CMC API Development located in Bagsværd. Our main responsibility is to develop manufacturing processes for new proteins and peptides in close collaboration with the research and manufacturing units (clinical and market). You will be part of the late stage-team at Chemical Development, dedicated to model-based process design in close collaboration with early phase teams and manufacturing sites. In Chemical Development, we are responsible for developing the synthetic processes required to produce the active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for new and innovative product portfolio. These processes encompass chemical modification of recombinantly-produced proteins, as well as chemical synthesis of peptides and small molecules. The department is involved in early non-clinical projects up to Phase 3 GMP-manufacturing, process validation and transfer to commercial production. The aim is to develop robust, technically feasible and economical processes, whilst minimizing the environmental impact.
