The Vice President will report to the Corporate Vice President of “Digital Products & Software Engineering” (DPSE) located in the Novo Nordisk “Digital, Data & IT” (DD&IT) division. The position is based in Copenhagen, Denmark. About the Department Digital, Data & IT (DD&IT) is a global community comprising 3,700+ colleagues, focused on driving digital, data, and IT initiatives to support innovation throughout the entire Novo Nordisk value chain, from idea conception to patient care. Digital Products and Software Engineering (DPSE) is part of DD&IT, being the inhouse digital product engineering organisation of Novo Nordisk. The team is driving tech leadership through innovative software products and platform solutions - combining deep expertise in software engineering and user needs.
As part of maturing the Digital Design Capability of Novo Nordisk, it has recently been decided to consolidate all DD&IT UX/UI roles in a new “Digital Design Hub’, Purpose is to cluster DD&IT’s design capabilities and thereby ensure the critical mass, scalability, flexibility, and excellence needed to drive design leadership, creating a common foundation across Novo Nordisk for supporting our stakeholders solving complex challenges by deeply understanding user needs and crafting intuitive, user-centered experience.
The Position The Vice President of DD&IT's Digital Design Hub is responsible for developing the vision and setting the strategic direction for digital design including user insights, research, and UI design across Novo Nordisk (NN). This role will ensure that a user-centric design approach is integrated into all digital products and services, delivering intuitive and engaging experiences for end-users. You will lead and oversee a team of 60-70 user researchers, UX, and UI designers, driving the execution of user experience and interface design across many of NN's IT systems, digital health solutions and all inhouse developed digital products.
As VP of the DD&IT Digital Design Hub you will set the strategic agenda for your function, directly impacting results within Data, Digital & IT and influencing broader NN outcomes.
You will drive a user-centricity agenda and mindset across the company through your high-performing digital design team, ensuring the team is motivated, aligned with the company's objectives and delivering concrete valuable results across our different business units. Key Responsibilities Develop and champion a comprehensive strategy for UX and user research, supported by case studies and data-driven insights to illustrate its strategic impact on business outcomes. Establish and evolve standards, methodologies, and toolsets for user research and UX design across NN, fostering effective communication and collaboration between DD&IT Design Hub and various Line of Businesses. Oversee and support the development and enhancement of the user journey experiences across multiple LoBs and IT systems Lead interface design across digital products and health solutions by establishing a clear UI Design Vision and strategy for interface as well as creating and maintaining a set of Design Principles and guidelines to ensure consistency and quality across all interfaces – all embedded and utilized through our NN Design System Continue to support and drive the development and management of a comprehensive Design System that includes UI components, patterns, and style guides. Build a high-performing, multidisciplinary team capable of understanding specific business domain needs and translating complex challenges into valuable user solutions. Drive performance management and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure alignment with Novo Nordisk goals, optimizing resource utilisation and achieving business targets. Oversee Occupational Health & Safety, budget management, and engagement surveys within the Design Hub, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and employee satisfaction. Ensure adherence to Novo Nordisk guidelines for quality, compliance, and environmental management.
Qualifications To thrive and succeed in this role, we expect you to have: An academic degree in innovation, digital design, engineering, or related field. Proven track record from similar roles in large corporate setting, driving innovation and fostering change within a complex stakeholder environment. Strong execution skills – being able to quickly move from concept / strategy to execution / concrete deliverables. Extensive expertise in working with and implementing design methodologies. Extensive leadership experience in international settings Experience with setting up large digital design teams, that includes everything from research to UI design, as well as being accountable for design system(s) and tools/methodologies Significant experience in managing external global collaborations / partners / agencies Demonstrated ability to cultivate and nurture an innovative culture. Strong capability to establish clear direction and foster clarity within teams. Excellent communication skills in English both written and oral and an ability to present at internal and external conferences and meetings.
