Stena Recycling DK is in a major turn-around phase.
The organization has gone from four diverse companies to one Stena Recycling and in the same period established a new physical structure finding synergies and reducing the number of branches/yards and co-workers by 25-30%. The financial results have improved but are not on a level to ensure a minimum of profits year after year.
We are now in a 2nd phase of the turn-around where we need to improve our way of doing things, together looking at HOW we do them, in order to build a profitable organization year after year.
The strategy to reach our Long-Term goals is as follows:
Improve business acumen and co-ownership in the entire organization
Improve profitability in our ferrous business
Growth in our “smaller”, more complex waste streams; non-ferrous, hazardous waste, plastic and electronics
You are one of five directors in the company and part of the Management Group consisting of:
Managing Director, CFO, COO, Inbound Sales Director, Outbound Director, HR Manager.
The COO role
As COO you are functionally responsible for:
19 branches/yards and 2 shredders
Logistics (where we have reduced the amount of trucks from 70 to 30 and seek partnerships with external transport companies)
Two Regional and a Logistic Managers report directly to the COO. Out of our 350 employees are 190 employed in Operations.
The structural objectives for the COO in the coming years are to:
Improve the Safety (incl. SWOB/P development) within operations
Make each Branch Manager responsible for the Profit of his/her Branch with clear targets and goals (in line with the equivalent for In- and Outbound)
Structure the work of each branch with common processes and common KPIs
Together with Directors for In- and Outbound structure the collaboration between the three functions
Within the frame given by the above make each Branch Manager become the Local Business man he needs to be to maximize the profit of the Branch
The monetary objectives for each Branch Manager will be attached to:
Increase the value added of all In-bound material more than the competition by running an efficient operation
Increase the volume and profits of each branch/yard by finding local customers and using the Branch Manager’s Business acumen, making profitably deals
To reach the structural objectives is more important than to reach the monetary ones as we do not know where the market is going. The structural ones will give us the profitability needed in the years to come.
Experience:
Preferably 8-10 years of experience of driving multiple profit units at a distance
Good ability to identify, develop and follow up on business and business processes
Great management experience, strong communicator and experience in simplifying complex information
Good people management
Good communicative and be able to speak Scandinavian.
The position is based in our HQ in Brøndby but include quite a bit of travelling visiting the different branches in Denmark.
If you have any questions before apply, you are welcome to contact Managing Director Ulf Arnesson +45 20 43 50 12.
