GRID ANALYST FOR HARMONIC ANALYSES

Join us in developing Denmark’s future electricity transmission grid which will form part of the green transition that will receive investments worth billions in the coming years. As a grid analyst you will have many opportunities to apply your solid knowledge of electricity transmission systems and electrical components, while also having the opportunity to directly influence the Danish electricity system during both the analysis and project phases. Your workplace will be at our head office in Fredericia, with home-working and significant flexibility possible in terms of facilitating your work.

A flexible workplace with a strong vision

You can look forward to becoming part of an organisation with a meaningful purpose. With a vision of “Green energy for a Better World”, we continuously work to achieve our goal of a green transformation of the energy system. We are curious, open and give high priority to cooperation and involvement, while we also have a strong focus on ongoing development and learning. In line with our values of “courage” and “trust”, Energinet is a flexible workplace where you will have significant influence over when and where you carry out your duties to ensure a good balance is struck between your own wishes and the creation of value for Energinet.

Become a specialist in harmonic modelling and simulation

You will be part of the department’s analysis team, which currently comprises six specialists who are responsible for insulation coordination studies and power quality analyses, e.g. in relation to grid connections of major wind power plants or other large transmission projects. The team holds a primary role in solving the technical challenges associated with applying cables in the transmission grid and the transition to a modern electrical system comprising converter-based generation and consumption units. You will become part of Energinet’s research and development project DANPAC 2020, which encompasses a range of issues such as the development of new and improved analysis methods relating to harmonic amplification phenomena and the design of technical solutions to manage these challenges. The team is also responsible for implementing ad hoc grid analyses relating to our transmission projects.

In order to succeed in this job, it is important that you have a strong grasp of electrical installations and systems, and are able to translate this knowledge into tangible solutions.

You can look forward to a challenging, specialist role where you will be working at a very high professional level and interacting with colleagues internationally. At the same time, you will also be part of a strong specialist team where you will have the opportunity to delve further into advanced analysis methods and models relating to the Danish transmission grid.

Specialization in high voltage current and great at cooperation

You will have a master’s degree or PhD specializing in electricity supply systems and electrical components. You should also have experience of advanced modelling and simulation using PowerFactory. Experience with PSCAD will be advantageous. As you will be navigating through an international field, you will have a grasp of English at a level to enable you to negotiate, and you will form part of the collaboration with external participants in relation to grid connection projects, as well as participating in dialogue with Energinet’s external partners on a more general basis.

On a personal level, you will have an analytical and systematic approach to your duties. You will be independent and adapt quickly to new and varied activities, just as you will be comfortable in stepping beyond existing frameworks and acquiring new knowledge and skills. At the same time, it is vital that you are dutiful and thorough whenever you are required to involve others in your solutions through cooperation. Finally, you will have strong oral and written communication skills that ensure highly technical matters become comprehensible to lay people without technical knowledge.

Application and contact details

Please send your application with a CV and relevant appendices through the “send application” link no later than 3 January 2021. If you have any questions about the role, please feel free to contact the head of department Lars Højbjerg Nielsen on +45 61 24 43 44.

Energinet Eltransmission A/S is tasked with developing, building, owning and operating the necessary electricity transmission grid and making this available to the transmission system operator (TSO) with the correct capacity and at the right quality as cost-efficiently as possible, so installation can be utilised optimally and safely. We ensure optimal asset management through a constant focus on the installations’ overall service life – from cradle to grave. We are subsidiary of the Energinet Group, which looks after society’s interests to ensure that Denmark is supplied with electricity and gas, and that the energy system is converted to using green energy. Our corporate culture is closely connected with our sense of corporate social responsibility, and we work actively in relation to the UN’s Global Goals relating to sustainable energy, climate action, partnerships for the goals, as well as industry, innovation and infrastructure. By leading the way in terms of the green transition, we can help to solve the global climate challenge. New solutions require us to look at the problems we face from many different angles which is why diversity is a watchword in our culture. We strive to listen, involve and share our knowledge. Based on the values of courage and trust, we always look to develop as an organisation and as people.
