Strategy and M&A Manager: Driving & screening M&A opportunities and strategic projects in the Strategy & Transformation department

As a part of the Strategy and Transformation function you will play an important role in developing M&A opportunities and driving strategic agenda together with STG colleagues and Group Portfolio Management Office (PMO). Currently, our portfolio has multiple programs and projects across the company including growth strategies and launches for key business units, simplification of products portfolio, optimization of the global logistics set-up, establishment of a global planning process, establishing new ways of working and a more agile organization. All these elements contribute to increasing shareholder value by raising earnings capabilities, driving efficiencies and stimulating market share growth, and are on top of the agenda for our CEO and Executive Board.
The job
As a Strategy and M&A manager, you will drive M&A analysis and projects independently, and you will also work to ensure that both the projects you drive and the ones you give sparring on, are run smoothly, delivering on time, in budget and with the desired benefits. You will collaborate with multiple senior stakeholders across geographies and functions, to deliver these objectives. This position has high exposure to the organization, and can be a great step in transitioning to a leadership role.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
• Perform strategic screening of M&A targets across categories, and participate in deal execution
• Contribute to building end-to-end M&A process and methods, from screening to integration
• Drive strategic and transformational projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, in budget and with the desired results
• Participate in implementation of strategic initiatives and support strategic analysis, working in cross-functional teams
• Act as a coach and sparring partner for various Group projects, promote project management capability within the company including the use of a professional project and portfolio tool
Reporting to our SVP, Strategy and Transformation, you will be working out of our head office in Gentofte, Denmark or Richmond, USA. In this role, you should anticipate approx. 15-30 travels days per year.
Day to day you should expect working in functional and cross-functional teams, being team lead for some projects, and reporting into other project managers for other projects and initiatives, depending on your experience and seniority.
What is needed to succeed?
In addition to having a strong business background, education and / or experience with corporate finance and strong communication skills, you should have 3-5 years of experience as a project manager, working in an international environment with projects/programs and M&A. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of practical experience, analytical skills including mastering Excel, and truly understands how the business is run. You find an inner ignition in strategic matters but also take great pride in getting into the dynamics of transformational projects. You work in a systematic, structured and analytical way, and you are motivated by challenges and navigating between many internal stakeholders in an international organization.
About the department
You will join the Strategy and Transformation department in the Group’s head office. We have built a cross-functional team focusing on driving consumer insights and pricing, contributing to corporate and BU strategy development, and running M&A and transformational programs. We are excited about creating value for the Group, and are therefore searching for a new colleague for this position. The department is involved in the world-wide business of Scandinavian Tobacco Group which includes subsidiaries in approx. 20 countries and export sales to more than 100 countries.
