Terma Aerostructures is looking for a skilled and committed NC Programmer to plan, create, verify, and revise machine control data and documentation that direct the operation for multi-axis numerically controlled machines. The programmer provides direct support to machine shops; assists in monitoring and verifying part quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures; participates in and drives continuous improvements to reduce cycle time and eliminate defects. You will become part of the NC-Group, which consists of 6 very skilled and committed employees, all with great experience from the industry. Your Responsibilities
- Use software to import/create required geometry and generate tool paths to achieve accurate part dimensions/surfaces with efficient processing movements and cycle times.
- Plan machining operations and develop associated manufacturing set-up documents and work instructions to be used by machine operators.
- Directly interface and work with machine operators and design & manufacturing engineers to develop manufacturing plans and estimates, solve problems, improve manufacturability of products, and ensure products are machined to comply with drawings and specifications.
- Provide shop support during the tool proving/run-in process of new and updated programs and daily support for problem solving and process improvements
- Utilize Vericut to create and maintain simulation routines to check cutter paths for various NC machines.
- Support root cause analysis and problem solving to improve machining related issues.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities
- Interpret drawings and models to create programs that maximize production throughput and ensure that quality parts are manufactured in accordance with customer specifications, by utilizing modern machining methodology and optimized machining parameters.
Your qualifications
- High level of proficiency in model-based programming. Ability to create drive geometry in addition to part model definition to support desired cutting techniques.
- Skilled in high-speed machining techniques of aluminium and/or composites
- Proficient in machining methods and practices, part tooling, fixturing and work holding and knowledge of cutter design and selection. Ability to evaluate and select proper cutter types and cutting tool materials and apply proper machining parameters (speeds, feeds, depth of cut, etc.).
- Ability to read and understand 3D GD&T information
- Skilled in root cause analysis using established tools and techniques.
- Enjoy working in an environment where change is embraced. Continuous process improvement is expected.
- Microsoft Office proficiency is required.
