Praktik - Hele Danmark

The Education Adviser will be an integral part of Oxfam IBIS Education team based in Copenhagen which spearheads the strategic work on Education for Active Citizenship, contributing to making both Oxfam IBIS and the Oxfam confederation a stronger player in education – nationally, regionally and globally.
The Senior Education Advisor will refer to the International Programme Director.

Key Function and tasks as Education Adviser

Education focal point to the MENA region:
  • Provide ongoing strategic and thematic support to the development of the Danida SP II intervention for Palestine
  • Engage with MENA countries and region around opportunities related to education
  • Support identification of influencing and communication opportunities on regional/country level (with PA/PE)
  • Engage in development of the new DAPP proposal and other relevant long-term and humanitarian proposals in the region (with TVET/skills development/education/learning perspective)

Lead the exploration and concept development of TVET/skills development (in Edu team and for Oxfam IBIS) as part of Danida SP and other opportunities.
  • Gather knowledge and explore strategic options & partnerships (in Oxfam, and with other organisations) in order to support Oxfam IBIS, and Oxfam via ECPI, to further develop added value (education perspective) in this field.
  • Contribute to advocacy initiatives, proposal development and fundraising as requested e.g. through documenting existing good practice in case stories.

Support, as requested, on tasks related to start-up of Education for Active Citizenship activities in new countries (Uganda, Kenya) and with regional links across the continent
MEAL, partnership and innovation focal point Education team
  • Consolidate and gather education inputs for Danida annual results report
  • Lead development of further ECPI change pathways (Economic Justice, Climate Justice) and participate in the global horizon planning process
  • Support development of new results frameworks with more qualitative indicators
  • Consolidate thematic review findings and contribute to the work of the Education sub-strategy for Oxfam IBIS (we have started but it's a lot of work)
  • Support, as requested, documentation (reviews, evaluation, case-studies) in phase out countries, and elsewhere.

Partner Affiliate Support
The function includes:
  • Support staff and partners in development of thematic and strategic proficiency in education programming/influencing and partnership approach;

  • Ensure quality, alignment to key strategic objectives and overall program standards;
  • Develop Oxfam IBIS education programme/project portfolio and support resource mobilisation for operationalization;
  • Spearhead knowledge development, learning and innovation regarding education;
  • Promote evidence-based influencing work through strengthened linkages between different actors and levels.
  • Ensure the promotion of gender equality and youth engagement in program and policy work.

Key Strategic Ares Policy/influence
  • TVET and skills development

  • ECPI and Oxfam Global Strategic Framework – and its operationalisation through horizon planning and change pathways

Program & Project Cycle Management
  • Prepare annual work plans and resource allocation in close collaboration with Oxfam colleagues in DK and internationally.
  • Strategic guidance and advice to programme staff and partners.
  • Participate in annual partner meetings and programme reviews as requested and possible.

Donor Relations
  • Ensure compliance with reporting requirements of donors.
  • Coordinate quality insurance of narrative and financial reporting with the Director of Operations and other colleagues

M&E, Documentation & Reporting
  • Initiate and supervise required assessments, documentation, ToC adjustments and evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with Oxfam/Oxfam IBIS MEAL procedures.


Tools & Thematic Developments
  • Contribute to the development of approaches, tools and frameworks in support of the implementation and monitoring of Oxfam IBIS’ Education strategies and programme activities.
  • Strengthen processes and platforms for networking and knowledge management across educational interventions in particular in the humanitarian-development nexus and between Oxfam, partners and other relevant actors; hereunder support to documentation of results/lessons learnt and the utilization of this to improve our practice and participation in ECPI

Fundraising
  • Participate in fundraising and grant management/reporting and to build donor relations (both Danida, institutional donors and private donors)
