Howden Turbo is a part of Howden group and the product application area is Environmental Compressors (EC). Our products for marine reduces NOx and CO2 emissions from ship propulsion engines and reduces ship hull friction and our products for waste water treatment reduces pollution in the global water resources.

Howden Turbo is now recruiting an experienced R&D Engineer to our R&D Department. The successful candidate will join a small team of highly experienced and dedicated colleagues with report to the R&D Manager. You will also be working in close collaboration with other teams and departments, both locally and globally. Your primary work location will be in Helsingør, Denmark, with flexibility to work from home. Depending on project assignments you should expect approximately 20-30 travelling days per year.

Overall, your main focus will be on validating, developing and implementing compressor design for new and existing applications. This includes specification, ideation, 3D design, CFD, test, evaluation, reporting and releasing products in internally developed selection tools. Sparring, support and teamwork with R&D departments in other business units is encouraged. There is a possibility to also get involved in other areas besides your main responsibility.

What needs to be done?

  • Act as aerodynamic cornerstone for Howden EC centrifugal compressor portfolio.

  • Develop and implement innovative solutions and improvements for our existing product portfolio.

  • Provide support for customer projects in cooperation with Sales, Engineering, Project management and Service.

  • Analyse processes and mechanical systems for troubleshooting activities, and actively engage into root-cause analysis, including implementation of corrective actions.

  • Write and update reports and technical documentation.


What do you need to bring?

  • Curiosity to learn about the products and application.

  • A degree in Engineering, preferable M.Sc. Eng.

  • Experience in thermodynamics and flow properties of centrifugal compressors.

  • An analytical, structured and solution-oriented mind-set.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to identify and understand our customer’s needs.

  • Technical English skills, as we are a global organization. Additional language skills, preferably German, are considered as an advantage.

  • Skills in magnetic bearing systems, rotor dynamics, gears, noise measurement or SW development are considered an advantage.
