The position As Project Management Director, you are the safekeeper of the project management methodology and will play a key role enabling the organization to mature and excel in project and program execution in a matrix setup, maximizing the value of Novo Nordisk products in early- and late-stage pipeline. You will be expected to proactively define and maintain project & program management practices and tools, and to train and mentor the organization (project & program managers and Line of Business) to excel and deliver best-in-class execution of our portfolio of projects. Also, you will be responsible to secure information flow, guidance, and recommendations, enabling the organization to maximize the use of resources and investments. The job will give you a solid knowledge of the value chain and the Novo Nordisk organization as it requires a strong focus on stakeholder management across functions and organisational levels, including senior level management. Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Establish and maintain the project management methodology, providing standards, guidance, and templates
  • Define and maintain standards, process and tools enabling the project organization and Line of Business to leverage learnings and continuously improve how they define deliverables & scope, size effort, identify risks and trigger points and plan the projects
  • Develop a risk management framework which enables the project organization to identify weak points on timings, and the risks inherent in the execution (technical, human, scope) and manage them
  • Define and maintain process and tools to enable the Line of Business excel in capacity management, securing the ability to deliver projects, plan resources and identify potential bottlenecks and mitigations
  • Lead and manage the change with the various stakeholders, ensuring buy-in, commitment and training to jointly ensure the delivery of the transformation
  • Continuously monitor and develop insights on the quantitative and qualitative performance of the projects and portfolio
  • Share insights, best practices and learnings through the preparation and delivery of streamlined reporting, process improvements, training and mentoring of project organization and Line of Business
  • Foster a project execution community in which best-practices and learnings are shared across the project organization and Line of Business
    • You report to the Head of DDS Portfolio Strategy & Management, and it is expected to drive changes and maturity with high autonomy while maintaining a strong link with the team. Qualifications We encourage candidates with a variety of backgrounds to apply, but you are required to have a relevant high-level education. To succeed in this role, we expect you to have:
  • 8+ years of combined experience in running project & programs and implementing project management methodologies
  • A solid track-record in product development in life sciences and experience implementing and maintaining project management framework are mandatory
  • Experience in change management is a strong asset but not mandatory
  • Strong communication skills and fluent in verbal and written English

About the department The Portfolio Strategy & Management is a team of 6 talented colleagues, part of DDS Strategic Development, a central function in the DDS SVP area (350+ FTEs). As part of Strategic Development, we leverage a strong link to the external landscape to drive strategic development of the DDS organisation to effectively build and progress a leading pipeline of delivery solutions. We drive strategy development and drive and facilitate execution through a combination of strategic resource allocation, portfolio strategy and management. Our main goal is enabling decision making through data and insights into internal and external trends and opportunities. We set direction and ambition levels for the DDS portfolio. We provide tools and transparency on status and progress to inform decision making to maximise value, striving to do business in a financially, environmentally, and socially responsible way.
