The position As an Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer, you will become part of a diverse team consisting of employees with different cultural and professional backgrounds, and work on one or more interdisciplinary research projects, from early to mid-stage development phases, materializing opportunities into solid engineered solutions by using ideation, concept development, rapid prototyping, functionality testing, engineering design and robust design. You are expected to thrive in taking decisions and setting the mechanical direction in development projects. The development portfolio is broad and covers low volume to very high-volume products comprising moulded components, metal components, and mechatronics. Together with your colleagues, ensure a robust and functional mechanical design, ready to be handed over to the development organization. Your working day will be dynamic with multiple tasks and interactions. Your success will be driven by your contributions to the execution of the project, your way of engaging with colleagues and stakeholders and your ability to create highly reliable products and exceptional patient experiences. Qualifications To thrive and succeed, we expect you to have:
  • A master's degree in mechanical engineering and 4-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven track record with mechanical mechanism design and design of components including 3D modelling in either Catia or CREO, preferably within the medical device or another highly regulated industry.
  • Experienced in developing mechanical solutions or products containing electronic hardware.
  • Demonstrable background in robust design, tolerance analysis, materials, FEM, DFM and DFA.
  • Fluency in English, both written and oral, and like to document your work.
    • It would be considered an advantage if you have:
  • Exposure to full life cycle management of devices or consumer products including but not limited to advanced mechanical design, usability, and transfer to high volume manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 11608.
    • As a person, you are curious, detail-oriented and comfortable in taking the lead with a ‘can do’ mindset. You are motivated by finding creative solutions to problems. You are making independent prioritisations and you like to demonstrate attention to detail. In addition, you are a strong team player and enjoy working with multiple stakeholders across competence areas, and are recognised for your interpersonal skills. About the department Platform Conceptualisation is part of Devices and Delivery Solutions (DDS), an area within Novo Nordisk’s global R&D organisation. We develop medical devices for self-treatment, supporting all business areas of Novo Nordisk A/S. It is located in Hillerød, in the greater Copenhagen area, and we have a long and outstanding track record of developing the best, most innovative, and widely used insulin devices in the world. We design and develop devices with cutting edge technology. This being both pen devices and devices utilising novel administration routes and delivery technologies. We are expanding our portfolio of device projects that bring reliable engineering solutions together to meet the unmet needs of patients across the globe.
