We are looking for a talented and skilled scientist with experience in biophysics and a comprehensive understanding of protein and peptide biochemistry and biophysics to join our Manufacturing Development analytical support team in Kalundborg. Here, you will be part of an inspiring, international, and multi-disciplinary environment with both API production facilities, support functions and laboratories across the site, which is the workplace for more than 4,400 dedicated Novo Nordisk employees, and the center for the world’s largest insulin production. About the Department The position as Scientist is based in the Manufacturing Development Analytical Support department. We are responsible for providing analytical support to Manufacturing Development’s optimisation projects, as well as supporting process and analytical development for new products. The department plays a vital role in support to both the production and the QC-laboratory in PS API at site Kalundborg. We are 65 engaged employees organised in five teams. About the Job Working with biophysics in department 403, you will engage in trouble shooting to develop biophysical understanding in relation to process changes of our production processes and in connection to trouble shooting and deviation handling. Your work will span from evaluation stability of new sample types, perform optimization on our method of analysis and support evaluation of routine samples. The job withholds a high level of independence and flexibility and a high degree of responsibility to ensure guidance and recommendations to our stakeholders within evaluation of physical stability. You will work closely with process scientists to support them with your knowledge about physical stability and analytical evaluation of biophysical parameters – you will need a curiosity about production processes and how they affect the stability of the produced molecules. You will design experiments to support decision making and provide recommendations for evaluation of physical stability. Together with our talented lab techs you will ensure that the analysis is performed, evaluated and the result presented to you collaboration partners. The current methods we work with includes: Fluorescence Spectroscopy e.g. for investigation of protein fibrillation Dynamic and Static light Scattering (DLS/SLS) Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) Particle Size Distribution analysis Absorbance measurements of protein solutions and Turbidity You will be part of a team (Biochemistry and Biophysics) team with 15 people engaging in a dynamic work environment with many different competences and overlapping areas of responsibility. Currently 3-4 people are working with biophysics. Qualifications You hold a PhD degree in Life Sciences with experience in biophysics and a comprehensive understanding of protein and peptide biochemistry and biophysics. Experience with protein aggregation or fibrillation is an advantage. To succeed in this role, you have: Knowledge or interest in production processes Ability to clearly communicate conclusions from complex data. Ability to find solutions based on insights into scientific challenges. Desire to work with laboratory automation and ability to develop fit-for-purpose assays in a close collaboration with our talented lab-techs.
