Smart Solutions part of Energy Efficiency is driving the development of new “smart” products and features that leverage technology, data insights and expertise, create transparency & drive value realization both on vessels and shore.
This position offers a unique opportunity to join a cross-functional team working on providing data driven advice on how to get from point A to point B the most safe, sailable and efficient way – both from routing and energy management point of view.
You will be part of combining operational expertise, cutting-edge data science methods, and software and data engineering to create results and insights that are transforming the transport and logistics industry.
You will join a multicultural and collaborative team working with agile software development methods. We operate in a fast-paced environment utilizing modern technologies and bias toward action.

The Subject Matter Expert is responsible for understanding business requirements, success metrics & user pain points, as well collaborating with the cross-functional product team to define the solutions, solve business problems and build amazing user experiences.
You will operate in a scrum team with a dedicated product manager, independently directing your time and resources together with the software engineers and data scientists in the team. You will need to participate in transforming the way we work.
Your responsibilities will cover researching business problems and objectives, user experiences & demands, addressing cost optimization challenges.
You will need to deeply understand our user and business needs, translate them into user stories, and ensure business requirements are sufficiently detailed so as to enable the team to deliver operationally feasible and high-quality solutions.
You will also take part in a monthly release process to vessels, as well as play scrum master role when needed.
Your key focus will be to safeguard that our solutions create value, as well as devise the methodology to track the performance improvements and value creation.
You will support the team with testing to ensure the acceptance of the solutions, as well as assist with developing communication and training material.
You will provide 3rd level user support in domain related issues. You will be a “go-to” person for other teams and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate has the following:
• frontline experience with vessel operations or ocean operations execution, understanding the challenges and drivers behind operating a network.
• a degree in marine transportation, marine engineering, naval architecture or similar; alternatively, a marine qualification of Master
• experience with cost optimization modelling
• knowledge of and experience with typical data science disciplines
• been part of the team developing software or have a proven track record of delivering data driven solutions in an operational environment.
• familiar with the disciplines of Agile product development, including a commitment to enforcing Agile as our change management model
• an operational as well as strategic mindset that can drive solutions to fruition, ensure value creation and build concepts & reality for the future
• is a good team player, balanced with the autonomy and motivation to produce individually, able to communicate data science results to business stakeholders
• strong drive to get things done, specifically to multi-task and meet deadlines consistently
• able to stay motivated in a fast-moving environment where priorities continuously shift and with pressure on delivering results
• great communication and interpersonal skills, displaying the ability to connect and build relationships with front line and headquartered teams alike.
