The Energy Transition Sustainability team works with enabling the sourcing of sustainable fuels and energy to decarbonise supply chains end-to-end, and we support the development of new sustainable transportation fuels such as methanol for our future fleet of container vessels. We assess the environmental impact and carry out lifecycle assessment and sustainability assessments of feedstocks, processes, and fuels.
What will your role be?
Your primary work tasks will be centred around sustainability analysis and certification of biomass feedstocks used for future fuels like the green methanol. You will be working with developing Maersk policies for future fuels in close collaboration with other Maersk teams.
You may have a background in environmental engineering or similar. You have insights into biomass value chain risk assessments from the sustainability perspective and possibly insights into bioenergy and biofuels. Ideally, you have experience with certification and traceability of biomass feedstocks, from fuel standards and certification schemes such as EU RED, US LCFS, CORSIA, ISCC and/or RSB. You have previously worked with biological systems and are well versed in sustainable agriculture and forestry (and their certification schemes). You are able to see where certification schemes have shortcomings and additional requirements are needed to ensure sustainability of biomass.
We work as a new but already very dynamic and positive-spirited team, we share information and challenges and help each other out. Sometimes, there are a lot of moving parts and high uncertainty and most days, we work with both internal and a wide range of external partners. It is important that you thrive with cross-disciplinary and cross-functional teamwork and are good at collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management. You will need drive and initiative and we’re hoping you will bring along curiosity, honesty, an open mind, and a good sense of humor.
