We are looking for an Academic Research Staff to support the Hansen Group’s research at The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR) to start on August 15, 2024, or after agreement.
Our research
The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research’s vision is to pioneer groundbreaking research towards better cardiometabolic health. We wish to lead collaborative interdisciplinary research from single-cell genomics to whole-body systems, transforming the basic understanding of cardiometabolic health, and accelerating its translation into prevention and treatment strategies. We were established in 2010, and in 2017, we moved into new laboratories, offices, and meeting rooms in the Maersk Tower www.maersktower.ku.dk.
The Center has around 260 employees who work in an international, highly collaborative research environment across a range of biomedical disciplines. You can read more about us here: www.cbmr.ku.dk.
Our group and research
The Hansen Group investigates the human genome and the human global microbiome to characterize the impact of these genomes on health and disease and to identify interactions between the host and the microbiome. The findings can lead to potent translational strategies for prevention and treatment of metabolic disease. You can read more about the Hansen Group here.

Place of employment
The place of employment is the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, Maersk Tower, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment.
Terms of salary and employment
The employment as Academic Research Staff is a 10-months position. The working hours are 12 hours pr. week. The expected starting date is August 15, 2024, or after agreement.
Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Your job tasks will include:
The candidate will be working on the following tasks related to the Hansen Group’s Transcriptomics project
- Documenting, downloading, and organizing data
- Assisting in reviewing the literature for relevant projects
- Assisting researchers with their bioinformatics analyses
- Contributing to scientific papers
- Receiving, registering and storing materials
- Aliquoting of samples
Essential criteria for the position:
- Good organizational skills and capacity for time management
- Capacity to work in teams of multidisciplinary professionals
- Excellent written and spoken English skills
- Previous experience with genetic data manipulation will be an asset
