Microsoft SQL DBA lead
Are you an experienced DBA in Microsoft SQL and knowledge in latest DB technologies? Are you ready to be a key player in DFDS’s IT-Infrastructure? Then we have just the right position for you!
In DFDS Group IT we are looking for an experienced Microsoft SQL DBA. Working as part of the Data Center Infrastructure Team, this role will have responsibility for ensuring infrastructure and processing service responsibilities are met for supported systems and applications.
You will work closely together with colleagues in the infrastructure departments, other IT departments & third-party providers, so you need to be a good team player.
Your role includes the following responsibilities;
Expected background and skills
We are looking for a candidate with a solid technical background combined with a relevant education within IT. We imagine that you have several years of practical experience with a medium to large enterprise infrastructure. Furthermore, you have a proven track record within Microsoft SQL core technologies but also a knowledge of new technologies in relation to cloud services and other DB products and technologies are required for the position, as DFDS are moving with the trends and technology towards a hybrid multi-cloud setup.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience administering Microsoft SQL Server databases, including features such as Server Configuration, Availability Groups, Partitioning, Backup/Restore, Replication, Encryption, Extended Events, Index design and maintenance, security, auditing and performance tuning. Experience of automating Database Administration functions using PowerShell is also a must for this position.
A skillset in SAN, vSphere and/or Hyper-V is also desirable, for you to control the important parts of the SQL stack. You are skilled in Windows Server and Active Directory as well, enabling you to influence and cooperate with your colleagues to get the best out of DFDS environment.
As a person, you are very 'hands-on' focusing on both documenting changes and executing the agreed deliveries. You create and maintain relationships and are a distinct team player. You are motivated by introducing new technologies and have the ability and desire to translate these into business value as you increase your experience. You can bridge the gap between people and systems with good communication and interpersonal skills and are fluent in oral and written English and preferably in a Scandinavian language.
Due to the nature of the business requirements and their high availability support requirements, planned activities and upgrades will sometimes need to be completed outside of business hours. Furthermore, DFDS has many different locations and therefore the position requires that you are able to travel around 5-15 days a year.
Exciting job in a dynamic organization
We offer you an interesting position, which is placed in a dynamic company. You will become part of a team of dedicated colleagues and an organization where we have passion and commitment for what we do and for working within a demanding and exciting domain.
DFDS is in a growing market, providing numerous challenges and ample opportunity for personal development and relevant supplementary training and education.
We will provide you with tasks that will challenge and develop your professional competencies, while also securing room for personal development and the necessary flexibility and influence on how to plan and perform your job.
The working place is in Nordhavn, Copenhagen.
