PhD Projects in Experimental Quantum Optics
The Niels Bohr Institute
Faculty of SCIENCE
University of Copenhagen
The Niels Bohr Institute invites applicants for PhD fellowships (one or more) in Experimental Quantum Optics.
Start date is (expected to be) 1 August 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The project
The projects will be part of the center for Hybrid Quantum Networks. The present projects will be within experimental quantum optics to strengthen our research efforts on photonic quantum simulators. We exploit advanced photonic integrated circuits and quantum nonlinear photonic interaction mediated by quantum dot emitters deterministically coupled to nanophotonic waveguides as novel resources and realize analogue photonic quantum simulators and quantum machine learning. Special emphasis is on implementing quantum simulation of quantum chemistry problems, notably anharmonic vibrational dynamics of molecues.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for candidates within the field of quantum physics or related areas. Applicants can have any background within quantum physics but it is a particular advantage to have experience in quantum optics, quantum information and/or optomechanics.
Our group and research- and what do we offer?
The PhD projects will be part of the Quantum Photonics Group, which is headed by Professor Peter Lodahl and currently consists of ten Post Docs and seven Ph.D. students. The group is part the Center for Hybrid Quantum Network and the Quantum Optics section, which consists of more than 50 researchers. The center and the section provides a very strong research environment with leading international research groups within quantum optics.
The group is a part of The Niels Bohr Institute, Faculty of SCIENCE, University of Copenhagen. We are located in Copenhagen.
We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment.
Principal supervisor is Professor Peter Lodahl, The Niels Bohr Institute, e-mail: [email protected], phone: +45 20565303
