Who are we?
The DRC Stand-by Roster is a unit of 10 colleagues within the International Department of the Danish Refugee Council. For more than 29 years the DRC Stand-by Roster (SBR) has assisted UN agencies around the world with deployment of experts to fill capacity gaps in humanitarian emergencies. The DRC SBR is considered a leading partner to several UN agencies including UNHCR, UNICEF and WFP. The unit is managing several rosters that enable the DRC SBR to deploy expert staff on short notice to UN humanitarian operations globally.
About the job
European Union Aid Volunteers (EUAV) initiative awarded the Humanitarian Operation Platform for EUAV (HOPE) project to the DRC in October 2018 for a 2-year period. HOPE contributes to strengthening the European Union’s capacity to deliver a timely, effective and accountable needs-based humanitarian aid.
Implementation has been ongoing since October 2018 and currently there are over 55 volunteers deployed in DRC and UNHCR operations. There are still activities to implement (i.e. monitoring) that will take place during the coming months, together with the reporting of the activities, both narrative and financial. Parallel to this a proposal for the continuation of the EUAV programme is being developed to allow for additional 2-years projects.
Therefore, we are looking for a full-time Project Specialist in the DRC SBR team, who will be a cornerstone of the work on succeeding with the implementation of HOPE and will take upon a key role in this regard. The focus of the position is to ensure efficient, compliant and high-quality administration and implementation.

- Support the finalization of the monitoring strategy
- Support and conduct monitoring missions if needed
- Support grant management and reporting according to EU Aid Volunteers regulations and decisions
- Support in efficient financial management and donor compliance
- Contribute to the development of proposals for future projects
The Project Specialist will report to the Project Manager (the Head of DRC Standby Roster) but will be working in close collaboration with the Project Coordinator leading the Consortium Coordination Unit as well as the entire DRC SBR team.
