Are you interested in global development and humanitarian assistance and want to challenge and develop your financial knowledge and analytical skills with one of Denmark’s largest NGOs? Then you might be our new Junior Financial Advisor in DCA. The position is a 1- year fixed contract with possibility of extension. Please note that this is not an expat position and we do not offer housing, schooling or relocation, and formal requirements to live and work in Denmark are required.

You will be one of ten Financial Advisors in the International Finance Unit (IFU). IFU is overall responsible for the financial management of our aid work abroad. Our core competences are quality assurance, capacity building and advising financial staff at our country offices and HQ. In addition, we develop financial guidelines and formats, and assist in donor financial reporting.

As this is a learning position, you will be part of a training program and be sure to be assisted by mentors within the team, providing you with a wide common knowledge of financial project management in an NGO. You will be part of a strong team of committed colleagues in our DK HQ in direct support to our 19 country offices in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. As such, you will have the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and internationally focused environment.

A Wide Range of Exciting Challenges
As a Junior Financial Advisor, you will support the joint tasks in the department. Your main field of work will be;
  • To support our financial staff worldwide on various financial topics
  • Quality assessment of budgeting on donor proposals and financial reports and assess compliance with donor reporting requirements
  • Consulting on procedures, guidelines, formats to the local country office colleagues
  • Ensure compliance and quality in monitoring of the financial project cycle and international donor reporting


You will also have your own light-portfolio of projects and assist on covering our helpdesk.
Ad-hoc assignments and administrative support can also be expected. The assignments may change over time and you must therefore be prepared to be flexible and happy with both a various task flow as well as standard recurring tasks.

You will have the opportunity to co-define tasks and responsibilities to match your interests and competencies as well as match the needs of the department.

Finance/Accounting Graduate with a Good Overview
  • You have an education within finance, auditing, accounting or similar and may have experience from a similar position (not a demand) where you have worked with project controlling, reporting, compliance and analytics/quality assessments of data.
  • You consider yourself to be thorough and keen on detail do deliver high standards on quality assessments, e.g. on donor reporting and audits.
  • High level of English skills both verbally and in writing as most correspondence is in English.
  • You have a solid knowledge of Excel and maybe an ERP system (the latter not a demand).
  • As a person, you consider yourself to have a positive learning mindset as well as being a problem-solver. You believe to fit into an environment which has a supporting and casual team spirit where everyone pitches in to get the job done and support the organisation in the best way.
  • You are motivated by and see it as an exciting challenge to work in an NGO and would like to build a career and network within the development sector.


It is a possibility to include 1-2 weeks of travel activity, where you will have the possibility to visit local country offices and assist on financial reporting in the countries, we work in.

You will work independently and should therefore be able to take the lead, but it is also important to us that you enjoy working with others across departments and cultures.

The place of work will be at DanChurchAid’s headquarters in Meldahslgade 3, 1613 Copenhagen K. Salary will be based on relevant DCA collective agreement, including a good pension scheme. The work time is 37 hours per week including lunch break, and we offer flexible working hours and the possibility of working from home. Expected start date as soon as possible.
