Praktik - København

Humanitarian Disarmament & Peacebuilding (HDP) is the one out of five core sectors within Danish Refugee Council (DRC) which specialises in Humanitarian Mine Action and Armed Violence Reduction. DRC is a non-profit organisation that works worldwide to help and protect refugees, internally displaced and other conflict-affected persons.

The HDP mission is to create a safe environment where people can live free from armed violence and remnants of conflict. HDP strives to achieve this through Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) activities, focusing on landmines and explosive remnants of war (ERW), as well as Armed Violence Reduction (AVR) programmes. The AVR component of our programming addresses both physical and psycho-social aspects of the threats posed by small arms and ERW. HDP’s work is vital in helping refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and other communities return to their homes when the conflict has ended, allowing them to make use of the land they were forced to leave behind and facilitating development.

Overall objective

The HDP is looking for an intern who will work at the DRC headquarter in Copenhagen. The intern will have the opportunity to become acquainted with the work within an international NGO and will have tasks related to supporting information management as well as general support to the country programmes. S/he will be given the possibility to work independently with different tasks that are related to his/her line of study and s/he will be given a thorough introduction to the working relations at the headquarters of an organisation that implements HMA and AVR activities in more than 20 countries.

The intern will be working alongside other colleagues on matters concerning information and quality management and data management. The intern is the focal point for receiving data from DDG’s country operations all over the world and will thus benefit from getting a close view and understanding of the outputs of a large humanitarian NGO.

The intern is expected to:

  • Communicate with different stakeholders in order to collect information required for various work processes ranging from grants management, and proposal writing procedures;
