There are more ways to this position, you can be either a relatively freshly Graduate with the right mindset or you have alternatively a year or two’s experience with market research. Responsibilities
As a Researcher you will draw on your knowledge and experience with both qualitative and quantitative research methods to drive the direction of our research and gather critical product, business, technology, and market insights. You also will support, challenge, and strengthen the quality of the research and research practices in Milestone.
You will play a vital role exploring customer needs, market and technology trends and identifying opportunities.
You will be especially involved in formative research - early in the product development processes. Through research, you will contribute to the development of Milestone’s knowledge and market understanding, enabling Milestone and Product Management to anticipate evolving market needs and prioritize product development and initiatives.
You will have a role in coaching and mentoring your colleagues through the research projects – including project scoping, methodological approach, qualitative and quantitative data gathering, pattern recognition and analysis processes. Together with other research professionals you will help drive the “how to” conduct the research project & ensure high quality insights.
Key tasks:
- Conduct formative research activities that support early-stage product innovation
- Facilitate and support Product Managers in partner and customer field research
- Support in the planning and carrying out of research, including developing research questions, identifying knowledge gaps, participant recruitment, data gathering, analysis and communicating findings across the organization
- Help develop and maintain Milestone’s research practices, including the documentation of insights and ensure we follow our ethical commitments for research confidentiality and participant data protection
- Offering guidance on the right method and approach for research – including the use of both qualitative and quantitative methods
- Prepare, conduct and analyze interviews and surveys with customers, partners, internal stakeholders and industry subject matter experts
- Combining and interpreting data using a mixed methods approach (combining ‘desk research’ within interviews and ethnography) in order to document needs, identify patterns and spot market trends
- Conduct deep dives on industry trends, customer segments and technologies
Qualifications and educational requirements:
- 2 + years applied research experience
- Educational background is likely master of anthropology, sociology, psychology, business administration, communication or similar
- Some experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods (e.g., interviews, ethnography, development and analysis of surveys)
- You can dive in deep with the product management and internal stakeholders to develop research questions and identify the right approach and identify suitable methods.
- As a person, you have a lot of drive and are curious about innovating and creating products. You are independent and work analytically. Being confident and a strong communicator, you can manage stakeholders in a cross-functional organization. You are passionate about what you do and can “sell” your research findings.
- Interest and experience in ‘Design thinking’ and product innovation processes is a plus
- You like to keep your ear close to the customers and market – curious about feedback from the external community and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English is company language)
- Self-driven with high ambitious standards
- Strong analytics and critical-thinking skills
The team
The successful candidate would be joining the product management team within Products Group in Milestone Systems. Products Group is part of Technology, headed by our CTO. Products Group includes Product Management, Product Marketing Management, Partner Programs and Business Development. As a member of the Product Management team, you will work closely with:
- Product managers to identify joint opportunities including software, services, and back-end processes
- A superb product marketing team will assist and challenge you in delivering value-based and targeted messaging
- Product Owners in the R&D organization. In an agile development model, the Products Owner are the primary interface to the development teams
