If you did, then a new position in the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) might be what you are looking for. The Team Lead – Budgeting and Reporting position has been developed to help guide a dynamic team to improve the budgeting and reporting processes of Denmark’s largest international non-governmental organisation.

Who are we?

The position will be part of the Financial Reporting and Compliance Unit in the FRISC Department. The unit supports the strategic initiatives related to DRC’s financial reporting and budgeting processes while also providing donor compliance and advisory services. The unit also has the cross functional responsibility in the finance department to develop and maintain the finance policies and processes of DRC. This combined work ensures that the financial management of the organisation and external stakeholder commitments can be met.

About the job

Setting the strategic pathway for the financial reporting and budgeting of DRC is one aspect of the position that will enable you to engage with multiple stakeholders across the organisation. Developing the budgeting and reporting processes of DRC to the next level will be the key to success. To achieve this the position will need to work closely with the other team members and be the driving force. The position will also provide opportunities to coordinate the financial management of DRC’s head office operations (DKHQ). More specifically the position will have the following responsibilities:

  • Set the direction for the budgeting and reporting team in the Financial Reporting and Compliance unit
  • Ensure the completion of the monthly management financial reporting package within the deadlines set
  • Provide analysis of financial information as part of the monthly management reporting
  • Responsible for the follow up process for the monthly financial management reporting and ensuring relevant stakeholders are involved.
  • Support the ongoing development of internal financial reporting and dashboards
  • Coordinate the global budgeting process
  • Review the organisational budgeting processes and implement approved changes to the processes
  • Coordinate the financial management DRC’s head office operations (DKHQ) in collaboration with relevant FRISC management team members
  • Review the setup of the DKHQ legal entity in relation to the operational needs of the departments under the DKHQ structure and the FRISC department structure.
  • Support in the preparation of financial reports to external stakeholders
  • Support the annual audit process and provide inputs to the audit as requested

About you

Having the willingness and drive to work in close collaboration with the team members will be essential. This is not a position for an individual that likes to work alone. We are looking for the team motivator, the one that recognises the responsibilities and objectives of the team and strives to achieve these as a team. You however also need to have the skills to engage with multiple stakeholders and at times be the go-to person. Your skills in financial reporting and budgeting will be the strong foundation on which you will develop the position. But you will also need to use these skills and your influencing talents to bring about improvements and change.

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • Strong accounting and financial management background
  • Experience of working in a Not-for-profit organisation is desirable
  • Considerable experience in generating management reports and supporting budget development
  • Ability to provide thoughtful analysis of financial data and contribute to financial decision making
  • Knowledge of statutory and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of international and Danish accounting standards
  • Experience with project management on a small scale
  • Experience in using Microsoft office, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • University degree or equivalent within a relevant area (finance, business management, accounting)

Desirable

  • Experience with using ERP systems and ability to understand their architecture. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a big advantage
  • International accounting qualification

We offer

Workplace: Copenhagen (DRC HQ). Please note that you need to have the right to work in Denmark (through nationality or existing work visa) in order to be considered for this role.

Start date: ASAP

This position is permanent.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and AC (fuldmægtig-level). This is a national position for which local terms and conditions apply.
