Signal processing engineer for early innovation team

Create the future
In your new role you will work with ideas and concepts that have the potential to significantly impact the hearing healthcare industry of the future. You will use your entrepreneurial mindset and understanding of emerging technologies – like machine learning and sensors – to design & build product innovations that will provide radical value to our customers & users. This will be done in cross functional innovation projects involving participants from all of R&D as well as from Sales & Marketing, Operations, Quality, and our sister companies.
You will join us as an engineer in our Discovery Team, a part of R&D in the Hearing Instrument Group.

Your main responsibilities will be:
- Scouting and assessing emerging technologies and their relevance for the future of hearing healthcare, particular within the focus of machine learning, signal processing and audiology
- Build prototypes and demoes of concept ideas to evaluate new product opportunities
- Participate in Discovery projects, where we will build concepts & prototypes of hearing aid solutions of the future
- Evaluate new ideas and product concepts from a technical perspective – by building rapid prototypes and testing these in collaboration with other engineering profiles
- Collaborating with a network of external partners including vendors, technology partners, audiologists, and end-users
- Act as an architect for new technologies, understanding mainly your area of expertise, but also how the technology affects other engineering disciplines
- Collaborate with R&D to transfer knowledge from Discovery projects into Roadmap projects
You can expect up to 10 travel days a year.
A creative doer, who can transform radical ideas into tangible product innovations
We expect you to hold a relevant degree in computer science, electrical/electronic engineering, medical engineering, software, or any other relevant discipline.
Your qualifications:
- Deep knowledge of Matlab
- Knowledge of using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
- Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks
- Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications
- Knowledge of DSPs, and ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers
- Experience working with sensors, like accelerometer, gyroscope, PPG, etc.
- Experience with app development (Xamarin, swift, etc.)
- Experience in Bluetooth air tracing/sniffing would be an added advantage
- Experience with audiology and acoustics would be an added advantage
You have great knowledge and interest in emerging technologies, preferably in hearing healthcare, medical sector, audio, and consumer electronics. More than that – you also bring along a good understanding of the development of technology solutions. Your key competency is within machine learning and signal processing but your also possess knowledge about our engineering fields like connectivity, apps, audiology, signal processing and electronics. You understand how these different engineering disciplines work together to define the optimal solution.
A team worker and great communicator
You can work alongside project members with backgrounds in engineering disciplines like app development, acoustics, SW, mechanics, electronics as well as products management and user experience design. You feel comfortable presenting your work to project leaders, project members, specialists & architects around the house as well as top management.
You are comfortable with ambiguity and show the ability to hit the ground running. All in all, we are looking for a team-player that proves the ability to quickly prototype and experiment with new technologies and innovation ideas.
